Dino can speak for himself, but he happens to be right

he said nothing of the sort so why you have to be so disagreeable would seem to be coming from yoour own nature

men should pay more attention to their own 'roles'

especially since all the ones who point to the Bible so consistently FAIL at what men should do

I think the day that we quit going to the Bible for guidance is the day that we can consider ourselves completely lost and with no hope of redemption.
 
first off, the word 'roles' is defining of a mindset that refuses to consider anything else

saying that, I am pretty sure people use the word without actually giving much thought to it

and then you are relatively new here and I guess have not had the privilege of reading how some men in this forum cannot seem to get enough of waving the Bible and telling women to shut up

an example of what I am talking about is what Dino said and the ridiculous response he got

I think each person is responsible before God as to how they conduct themselves in marriage

men are not god and any time they try to play the role of dictator, they are OUTSIDE of God's plans for marriage

I honestly have not come across some of the attitudes I see displayed in this forum in real life...thank God!

I don't think 'we' can define for others because marriage is between 2 people.

I am not by any means putting a negative spin here or trying to reverse roles. I think what I am saying applies more to what goes on in this forum than in the lives of many married people here

My former divorce attorney was a very highly educated and very intelligent woman although she was not a Christian. She told me quite candidly that simply using the English lexicon and an understanding of the basic tenets of a Christian marriage is that it is in fact a benevolent dictatorship in a Christian marriage. Those were her own words and she was quite a liberated woman. In any case it is ironic to me that no version of a man in his own marriage having any final say seems to be construed as anything more than absolute tyranny and a hell hole for his wife. I think apart from Christ this would generally be true that or he would make his wife the object of his worship and end up spoiling her and himself spiritually by leaving God out in the cold. I don't think dictatorship quite describes what a marriage is but it is certainly not a democracy. The governance that God demonstrates from his own throne and which is mirrored in society throughout the ages in every place but the United States more or less is a monarchy. He definitely shows us that a monarchy executed with love and wisdom and we see this same reality modeled and true Christian marriages. I like to think of a marriage is a king and queen sort of arrangement.

whoah! I'm not saying those things and you may be extending personal experience into what I did say

again, I have not seen the display of arrogance towards women that seems to be so prevalent in this forum

I do not see how a non-Christian liberated woman can possibly understand a Christian marriage or that it represents Christ's relationship with his 'church'

do men conveniently forget that we are also supposed to submit to each other? you know I think some do

what is a true Christian marriage? it can be one where the woman is totally fine with the man making all decisions. it could also be a 50/50 one where each, out of respect for each other, discuss and make decisions together

I will tell you what though....respect, honor and being truthful to your vows goes both ways, not to mention trust, and when those things go out the window, unless people take a real hard look at themselves, the marriage is basically over even if they continue to co-habit

Marriage roles? I would sugest that we return the definition of Mariage. One man with one wife till death do them part .Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve, or Eve and Evita

Today the world marriage can mean whatsoever a persons desires in the quest to make the word of God without effect . Thanks to Obama care today you can officially marry your cat, dog or horse . Mr. and Mrs. Edd . But know one can talk to a horse of course.

Biblical marriage is a theocracy.

God is listening to all we have to say.

My husband is listening to all I have to say, and he is listening to God.

I am listening to all my husband has to say and to all God has to say.

Since hubby and I are both listening to God and each other, most of the time the vote comes down to concensus. Everyone agrees, and the descision is made.

In those rare times when there is no agreement, I count on God and hubby to love me. And hubby counts on me and God to love him. In that, hubby has final human vote. But, God already made the answer clear.
