I'm asking this because When I was younger and (it wasn't until recently) that I believed having confidence was okay ..
Christ paid a price so God "can" build our confidence up "in Him"..
He has given us gifts and talents supressed by years of believing the wrong things...
Tha we aren't good enough , smart enough , big enough, tall enough, wise enough , courageous enough , or we don't have the potential to be something we aren't yet ..
So I'm curious .. What are some lies you use to believe that God has corrected in the area of His confidence, and more so, what are you now doing that for years were supressed ?

As for what God has done for me in my life
As of late..
He has given me the ability to share Hos thoughts towards me
more.
He has given me the ability to lift someone up instead of passing them by
He has given me love so I can love others more
He has shown me I am able to do all things according to Him..
He has given me the discernment of truth to compare to a lie
He has given me the courage to join in , instead of putting who He has made me
To be under a shade..
he has also been revealing agape love. And given me the ability to love beyond unmet conditions
So that I look at how He loves me so I can love others the same way..

I believe it's a matter of " believing" what God says we "can do" rather than believing the lie of what we can not ..
In Him all things are absolutely possible ..
In Him our strengths are the light He has become in us ...
Please share and be bold and do so in His the confidence He has given to you ..

I think God has restored my confidence in christians a bit just by visiting these forums. Like I've told a member recently in a thread..it's such a blessing to see believers under 25 yrs old really sold out to God & loving Jesus. I came from a church where when I was in my 20's I would see, talk & help out with the youth group there and they were all between 13-18 yrs old..but man...they were so lost...out of the 20 or so kids that we had in that age group, maybe 2 were actually interested in following Jesus, the others you could see were just forced to come to church by their parents. I over the years have been able to keep in touch with a few of them or hear reports of what they are all up to nowadays...many of them in their 30's now,and it's sad to see how many of them are 100% secular, the girls many with 2-4 kids, some all by different dad's...a few are dead now..some got into drugs heavily,a few finally got their act together & are serving the Lord.
It's just nice to see that there is hope in the younger generation, who I still feel kinda a part of even though I'm in my early 40's. I forget at times that 20 yr olds don't think a 40 yr old is cool if he has a mohawk & wears a t-shirt with a stick figure who's head is on fire with the phrase "I do all my own stunts" beneath it. But that's me...LIKE A BOSS... no,er..like a fetus! lol
So THANK YOU JESUS FOR RAISING UP AN AWESOME NEW GENERATION OF YOUNGIN'S TO LEAD THE WAY & BE AN EXAMPLE & LIGHT FOR THIS DYING WORLD!

That there is no forgiveness in God to be doled out to anyone after the cross of Christ, this is the death his death our death before any of us here were ever born. We are to recieve first the forgiven state that Christ put us in via his death that gave the whole world forgiveness of all sin. This is how we are by beleif presented to God as Holy by being forgiven so we can be born again by the resurrection at the cross
then we are to see the resurrection of christ at the cross because without this we would still be in our sins and not released from them, because this is where one gets the new born again life in the Spirit of God which is the only way God is worshipped in Spirit and truth
That everything one needs is in the cross for life today and forever after. It is a free gift by God through Christ the Son. God did all the work only leaving us to change our minds from unbelief that we are born with by flesh to belief in God by the Spirit of God and not give up belief ever no matter what tragedy comes along from this world that tries to beset one that believes to not believe.
Everything that one needs for life and Godliness is found in Christ Jesus via the resurrection at the cross the completed work

God has showed me that he does indeed love me despite all the stupid crap I've done
That the little things I do are meaningful and show love even when I don't think they do

I used to be extremely depressed and found out, I don't know, about a year and a half ago that it was tied to an addiction I was living in. It's easy to regress to, but it's kind of like the laws he made for the Israelite's were they would remain unclean till sundown, even when I slip up on a day, I'm typically angry and depressed, but the next day I feel more refreshed, like I have a new start. One of these days I'll be wise and strong enough to tell myself to knock it off and keep moving forward in righteousness rather than starting over all the time.

I'm still believing the lies. I have horrible self-confidence. I tend to believe negative people quicker because there are more of them around than positive people. Well I don't really "believe" them but they get under my skin quicker.

I don't think the bad thoughts are correct. I think I just need a break from my usual thinking habits and old poisonous baggage before I can reclaim my gifts again.

That is so horribly, painful true that it made me bust out laughing.

Just remember God made you exactly like you on purpose... and he doesn't make any mistakes.
: )

it is challenging sometimes .. I can relate where you're coming from
In in this .. I think we go through these areas because of our being familiar with lies instead of the truth .. But like homewardbounds comment (thank you homeward) mentioned , "Who" we believe has a lot to do with coming out of them..
God is doing a wonderful work in all of us ... I believe and have confidence in Gods ability to lead us into all His truth ..thank you everyone for sharing :) I see so
Many of His characteristics in all of you .. I have also seen tue work of God coming through all of your posts.. he is recognizable being in you and working through each of you independently of others ..
Thanks everyone ! :)

Don't give up you are on your way to the full understanding of the cross and will be free, once yousee to change your mind form doing good works of your own flesh, then you will come alive to God's works at the cross and thus walk in God's works by the resurrection at the cross
read it carefully spiritually Romans 6:-11 and be free as you just said one day you will, today might be that day

So if you renewed your mind to view things from God's view point do you think things will change in your outlook?
For as a man/woman thinks so shall they feel
Galatians 6:8For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

God has restored my confidence, and continues to do so daily - sometimes because I backslide, other times building me up beyond where I was the day before to a new previously unattained height.
He has used my church family - but this would not have been possible if I had not chosen to embrace the church that loved me despite me.
He has used the lyrics of Christian music to reach my music oriented mind - but this would not have been possible if I did not choose each day to listen to this: The House Player 2011k
He has used dance - but this would not have worked if I had not been brought in to this folk dace organization with a background for the same that was planted in my Old me and blossomed in my New me.
He has used service to others - starting with hiding in the kitchen washing dishes at church events, avoiding people and cranking up the hot water so that the steam hid my tears + drove others away from me.
He has used my children - for whom my greatest ministry exists: raising them to follow Christ with an influence that no one else can have on them but me, blessing me with renewed and restored relationships with them after He dragged me out of my old ways - growing me to no be the monster they once saw me as. (Praise be to God!)
He has used two studies of the 12-steps as viewed through the teachings of Jesus - which would have meant nothing if I had not given in to the idea that sometimes amazing can't happen if I hold back, and chosen to invest myself fully, all in, for God and what He can do for me.
He used and continues to use Celebrate Recovery, because I continue to yield myself to Him there.
He uses much more...

But first God had to DESTROY the confidence I had built for myself, so that He could build in me a confidence in HIM.
It's been a bit like that Hillsong United "What The Lord Has Done In Me" song... only Much more bluesy and soulful.
And definitely been a more than a bit like this:

I must be getting soft in my old age,'cause that video made me choke up a bit. Thanks for sharing SB! You Rock bro!

I completely get what you mean about God breaking that confidence down .. I really get that ..
That song is a signature song in my life .. and gee, I think we can all relate to it too.. (thank you for sharing it )
the stripping of that confidence is like watching your skin being peeled off alive .. for me it was like a transformation from a snake to the heir of a king.. the beautiful garment and "agape" love " God" gives us back .. Aw man (heart melts ) .. It was all so worth it ..
it is a process..
I can tell He has done a" powerful " restoration in you..
Simply awesome!

Putting complete confidence in God was like this for me .. The ride ? The same as the victory ..

the narrow gate..
