How have your tongue been?
• “The mouth of the just brings forth wisdom; but the perverse tongue shall be cut out.” (Pro 10:31).
What would the tongue of perversity be?
1 – The rebellious tongue:
• “My son, fear Jehovah and the king; and do not fellowship with those who are given to change;” (Pro 24:21).
2 – The crooked tongue, that is to say, the tongue that adds, subtracts or twists the Holy Scripture (mull over Ephesians 5:6; Colossians 2:4; 2Peter 2:3):
• “with the pure You will show Yourself pure; and with the crooked You will show Yourself perverse.” (Psa_18:26);
• “And those who turn aside to their crooked ways, Jehovah shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity; peace shall be on Israel.” (Psa_125:5).
3 – The tongue that utters encomiums:
• “A lying tongue hates those afflicted by it, and a flattering mouth works ruin.” (Pro 26:28);
• “He who rebukes a man shall afterwards find more favor than he who flatters with the tongue.” (Pro 28:23);
• “The king establishes the land by judgment; but he taking bribes tears it down.” (Pro 29:5).
4 – The tongue that hurt or kill our hope in Christ:
• “How long will you torment my soul and break me in pieces with words?” (Job 19:2).
• “Because we have heard that certain ones who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, Be circumcised and keep the law! (to whom we gave no such command);” (Act 15:4).
• “Then Paul answered, What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” (Act 21:13).
However, relish in Christ Jesus, enjoy your weekend because, fortunately, every perverse tongue around you will be cut off: just stay praying and poring on the Holy Scripture and, certainly, no weapon (including the tongue – see James 3:6) that is formed against you will prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment, you shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17).
