"As I live says the lord, every knee shall bow to me and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brothers way". Romans 14: 11-13. James 3: 1&2 warns teachers NOT to be many masters, for in many things we OFFEND all, and we shall RECIEVE the greater CONDEMNATION. Adding to, guessing, or taking away from God's word can end us in very serious trouble. Read Revelation 22: 18,19 and the severe warning in verse 19, This is speaking individually concerning just the book of Revelation, (the Bible of course had not been compiled yet at John's writing).

God spoke the universe into creation with words alone and as a writer I have seen the power words can have. With every post we make our words can be seen as a swords, they can cut down impale and they can make hearts bleed and can wound, they can be used to encourage uplift andbuild the church as well but remember that for eveery blade that can injure there also is a blade that can heal we just have to ask ourselves what is my blade made for?

It's nice to see this kind of thread started, some edification. The importance of our speech is tremendous. It's directly tied to how we guard our minds and hearts and exercise of self control. I am currently compiling all the Bible says about conversation, what is proper, improper, and what tricks the enemy employs in conversation. Will post on the forums when I am finished and organize it, I want it to be super comprehensive, if possible capturing ALL scriptures on this topic.

Our words do not "save" us............ONLY by the Grace of God, through the precious blood of Jesus Christ are we saved............ Now, our "words" ARE important, and every word we speak is "recorded" in Heaven, and we may well be held accountable for them on the day of Judgement................BUT salvation comes from the Grace of God through the precious blood of Jesus Christ........
"calling upon the name of the Lord" is how we ask Him into our lives, but He is the saving power, not our words of invitation

By saying our words can "save us", meaning repentance and confessing Christ. Words said in unbelief or liars, can condemn us. "By thy words, thou shall be justified and by thy words thou shall be condemned. Matthew 12: 36,37. Most of the words that come out of the mouth reveal the condition of the heart. Matthew 12: 34-37.

Romans, Chapter 14:

But, by stating that salvation comes by what our words are is misleading, and some may stumble because of it.
I posted the same verses from Matthew that you did...........they show that our words can "condemn" or "justify." Justification is different from salvation...........
Just want to be sure that someone who reads this Thread is not confused about how and where salvation comes from...........am not condemning the Thread, just clarifying...........

Jesus said it's not what goeth into the body but what cometh out that destroys. For out of our heart which is wickedly deceitful comes,anger,hatred,pride arrogance ect ect.
There are MANY sins that come from the heart as well as the flesh and yet people tend to minimize the heart ones.
How do they come out...WORDS!

True. No one here disagrees that our words certainly can condemn us. That has not been challenged. Thanks for the Scripture reference. All that has been said is that it is important to "clarify" that salvation comes from the Grace of God, through the blood of Jesus Christ.
I agree and I myself did not take what he said to be talking about salvation .
I think we tend to forget our walk as a whole,salvation is the starting event.
We have much more to be as we learn how to be holy ( set apart) before God.
Some exhibit very ungodly behaviours by words.
Do they NOT think they will give account before God!

Words can indeed save or condemn. Obviously, good people say good words only or do their best to stick to good words even if they err from time to time and correct themselves when informed. There is no doubt about that.
Anyone who gets worried by that assertion is an unrepentful sinner filled with Satan's rebellious nature. Good people never worry about that assertion. Thanks be to God.
