In Matthew 13:15 Jesus says "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house". At the time Jesus was not accepted in his home town or in his own family as the Savior. They basically said "we know him. There is nothing special about him". Now skip ahead to after his death and ressurection we see something very different. James the brother of Jesus is attributed to the book of James as the author. He was also apparently a leader in the Jerusalem church. He was considered one of the pillars of the church along with Peter and John. Look at the opening sentance in James. "James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ". Can you imagine? You are now calling your brother "the Lord". That is quite mind blowing when you think about it. James "put off" Jesus as anything other than his brother until he himself became an eyewitness of the Ressurection. And to top it all off he becomes a martyr.
