quite a good few years but thats the path i chose.i dont see things changing anytime soon.most of the women i know of similar age feel the same.

Please be assured, that in Christianity, singleness is preferred, so you can serve God without distraction. In the late Roman Empire and early Medieval time, chastity was a heavenly virtue, celibacy was the token of devotion, marriage was a worldly affair, it was mostly arranged for economic and political purposes; the turning point was the 4th Lateran Council in 1215, that's when marriage became a formal religious sacrament, the church had officially asserted itself as the authority over marriage, private marriage was condemned; it was during the Romantic era in the 19th century that marriage was loosened from property transfer and political union and more toward feelings and emotions; it was as late as in the 1950s did monogamous marriage and nuclear family become the absolute norm for as much as over 90% of the population, and then in the 1980s was the rise of purity culture as the response to the sexual revolution and "free love" movement, that you "save yourself for marriage", which was a form of false prosperity gospel, that God will reward your faith with happy marriage.

Never married, so since born?
My brothers are twins, so they not single, they double. I'm a single, but more of a middle child than anything else. Will always be lol

Doesn't mean to say I haven't ever had relationships, just not married or betrothed. If ever have a fiance, will let you know the first thing will go on CC singles and announce it.

I have been single 17 years never been married. I had a girlfriend in high school for two years and that was it. I am 32 now.
I've been single 47 years. Just never have tried to find anybody.

It's peaceful. Very little drama.

Not that I'm opposed to the idea, mind you. If I happen to meet a lady and we wind up getting married, I will probably be just as happy then. But I'm not going out looking for it.

I've been single pretty much since around 2017.

I am happy enough being single, but would like to meet someone I guess...

The one thing I want though is to build a genuine friendship and connection with them first.

Looking back, I can see that jumping into relationships when you have met someone on a dating app doesn't give you the best foundation for going forward. It takes time to build something genuine.

I know it's been about, 15 years. At that time the relationship lasted about 1 hours. The girlfriend before that was more than 20 years. And it lasted about 1 month with her having sex with so many people, that I was scared of her. The relationship before this one lasted about 1 month, ending because I turned 18 and she was 15. Which was a very good thing I broke up with her, because someone looked at me one day, and the nurse wanted to know all about my girls friends. She told me I had better be glad I broke up with her.

I’ve been single since March 2025. Divorced from unbelieving husband. He was a very angry man and believes Christian’s are all racists and nazis. He is involved with Antifa. When I met him I was a baby Christian and I did not listen to the warnings of marrying an unbeliever and I was quite lonely and desperate so I decided to just date him. I ended up marrying him and fell away from the Lord backsliding into all kinds of trouble but when I came back to Christ and cried out to Him I found forgiveness. I long suffered for many years until my oldest daughter had a baby who she was unable to care for so I took guardianship of her. My husband was very good with her but he treated me badly in front of the kids. Out of fear of losing the baby from stress I wanted to separate from my husband but he wouldn’t allow that. He didn’t have a place to go since he was cut off from his own family so I stopped talking to him at home and kept to myself but even the smallest things would set him off. I later was involved with an online church chat that took a new friend to help me get through it all. Unfortunately I fell in love with him because of his kindness I was lacking at home. My new friend was everything I thought I needed so I told my husband I was ready to just divorce and go our separate ways. I got ahold of his mother and reconnected them so he went to live with her and give us peace at home. My ex said he would go to counseling but only secular marriage counseling and also he made it clear that I had to compromise to make our marriage work. My “friend” who I met online and in person was supportive but then he turned out to be not supportive and chose to ignore me hoping I would stay in my marriage(possibly because he thought he was the reason) so I was hurt beyond words. I felt like a selfish woman wanting to be loved and I felt like I was getting what I deserved. I begged my husband at that time to stop the divorce and try to reconcile but he said it was too late. He not only wanted to end it but force me to carry the guilt of wanting it to end. So it was on me and not him. He found enough scriptures to accuse me of adultery (emotional) and also to put the divorce on me so I could never marry again. I’ve found absolutely no answers to this subject of remarriage after marrying and divorcing an unbeliever so I’m just in anguish most days. Living in guilt and punishment day after day. I lost my stepdad and my bio father, two exs ( my prior children’s dads before I was saved) and have lost my friends in the process. If there was anything the devil could do to hurt me he did it well and now I’m just hoping for Jesus to return. He’s my only hope now ❤️

Since I was born, an only child.
Very much like my daughter, who will be forty soon. She has dogs. And cats. Never had a boyfriend...
well, there was someone who liked her? But he was the ex of her best friend and other circumstances

just made that whole situation awkward for her. She herself said she's never been drawn to anyone.
Interestingly enough her premature birth may have something to do with this. Her own research told
her that premature babies are far less likely to take risks as an adult. Hmmm. Relationships are risky.
I don't think that's what that meant, though it could be included. She would never have lived the type
of life I did, though we did not have the words for it back then: "high risk life-style." Just reckless, really.
I am grateful to God for being so gracious toward me He allowed me to survive the stupidity of my youth.

I just don't understand why the whole shebang of relationship, marriage and kids is such a big deal in modern Christianity. That all seems like idolatry to me. We're taught to conform to Lord Jesus, take up our cross and follow Him; He was single and childless; apostle Paul was single and childless; so was Timothy and generations of priests, monks and nuns who willingly gave up the prospect of their own family for God's family. And in the last days, when the whole earth was worshipping the Beast, God sealed 144,000 Israelites who are "virgins not defiled by women" (Rev. 14:4). If these are role models for CHristians to follow, than singlehood is the most ideal and pious state.

Did you miss the letter to Timothy when Paul explained how in the latter days the Satan worshippers will forbid people to marry? Or the part about people not having natural affection?

Joining with another person is definitely messy...it's not controlled. Your heart is literally in the hands of another.
And if done right.....the two are more than the sum of their parts....and they procreate....
No, it's not easy and anything but self-serving....but you still are more for being successfully married than by being single.

In the book of Acts it was revealed to us that Paul knew precisely how much he was going to suffer for the Gospel....because God told him in detail.
Now Paul, even though very obnoxious, was kind and did NOT want to involve anyone else into his pain and suffering he knew he was going to experience. Who would?

Did you miss the part in the Olivet Discourse, where Jesus compared the end times with the days of Noah, people are still marrying and giving in marriage, totally unaware of second coming? Which was obviously not painted in a positive light?

For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. (Matt. 24:38-39)

And interestingly, in contrast, it is in resurrection, the afterlife, where there will be no more marriage, does it mean Satan worshippings are in power, forbidding people to marry? I thought Jesus was reigning with the saints, and the evil ones stay dead until the end of the kingdom, sarcastically speaking!

For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven. (Matt. 22:30)

The really short version of the history goes something like: early christians exalted the martyrs who laid down their lives for the faith. After a few hundred years christianity became the official religion of the empire and persecution and martyrdoms declined sharply. So they kind of needed a new expression of ultimate devotion and apparently sacrificing marriage and family seemed the next closest thing to literally sacrificing your life for God. Didn't hurt that having no legitimate children meant no heirs meant that priests and monks couldn't pass on any property and it stayed with the church. And that was pretty much the state of affairs until the reformers came along and among other things they found in reading their bibles was that marriage was a good gift from a good god and the antidote to the existing hypocrisy of most of those who'd taken vows of celibacy not actually abstaining from sex, just marriage.
