How many reasons and what reason did the Lord give for a scriptural divorce?

The Bible specifies two acceptable reasons for divorce: abandonment of a Christian by an unbelieving spouse (1 Corinthians 7:15) and adultery (Matthew 5:32).

If abuse or other issues are going on that risk your life or against the law as in some abuse scenarios, it should be reported to the authorities. Protect yourself.

It is a difficult situation when people finds themselves in not being able to remarry.

If the divorce is and was not for the reason the Lord gave.

Divorce is often complex and very messy. The Bible also says that if one can not be sexually pure then they should marry.

So which is it? To battle the sin of sexual immorality or the sin of remarriage if they are the guilty party who sinned to bring about divorce?

The intention of either command to not marry or marry to refrain from sexual immorality involves counseling and discernment.

No marriage should be pursued just for sexual reasons while equally no marriage should be so easily given when someone destroyed their last marriage.

Only true intentions are important. Have they truly repented, following Christ, turned away from the destructive habits that contributed to an unbiblical marriage, and have they even tried to salvage their first marriage?

God is a God of grace and forgiveness and I truly believe that marriage is designed in one sense to protect us from sexual immorality. So ideally that is a place to help combat sin if one is weak in discipline of the flesh.
