How much time do you wait

If you are going out with a friend and you are on time but your friend is delayed, how much time do you wait there before you go without your friend?
 
Does your friend have a cell phone? I would call and ask where he is. If he's unreachable, I'd say 40 minutes is more than reasonable unless you have somewhere else you need to be of course. Even 30 minutes would be reasonable.

I'm very sorry if this has happened to you, Liz. I had a friend who used to make me wait 40 minutes or longer sometimes, but it was just a friend, not a date.

I'd wait for an hour, if I then cannot contact them, I go looking until I find them, then I ask if they're OK, if they say yes....I tell 'em they're off my christmas card list, if not, I give them all my time and attention until things are right again.
 
Very interesting question. It makes me consider somethings about Jesus.

I guess it has more to do with patience in the person waiting.

Honestly I hate waiting but if im feeling nice i might wait half a hr but not call them if they know they are late they well have courtesy of texting and calling saying hey i'm running late
 
It depends upon where we are going. If we are going to a friend's home for dinner or something and it would be rude to make the host/hostess hold dinner, I wouldn't wait nearly as long. If I had tickets to something, I would wait a bit and leave a message that they must have been held up and that I would save them a seat, but if something had come up to please let me know. If it was something that wasn't time sensitive or not an inconvenience to someone else, I wouldn't mind waiting at all if there was a good reason and it wasn't a habitual thing.

I was to go with a guy to a dinner he was hosting at a local restaurant for one of his employees who was retiring. He came by my office to pick me up, but an urgent legal matter was going to delay me for 20-30 minutes. I BEGGED him to please go without me and offered to drive myself there as soon as I could, but he absolutely insisted on waiting, which meant that everyone who had arrived at the dinner had to wait on us. I felt HORRIBLE and was very embarrassed. Now, if I'm planning on meeting someone for anything after work, I always drive myself so if my job interferes somehow, it won't affect anyone else.

I don't like to be late for anything. Unless there's a very good reason, it's just rude.

Thanks Zero, actually this happened to me last saturday :( , but it was only a friend not a date and we have years of knowing each other, but after 40 minutes of waiting i was wondering if it was normal or not, we were going to eat so i was very hungry and i just left and went to eat to a chinese restaurant near my home lol

Lizzytheone, if I was waiting for someone on a date, and, they didn't show up on time then I would feel like I was getting stood up and be gone after a cell phone call saying I will wait 15 minutes first.

Now, as you put it, waiting for a friend , that is an entirely different situation. For one thing, I can always get ahold of friends. And, if I can't, concern happens and surely they will.have a good explanation why late. But the waiting time is the same 15 minutes as a date. Then I'm greenNgone :D
 
Depends on the circumstances and the relationship. I think if they are a friend (not an immediate family member) who is perpetually late often, and you have had numerous discussions with them about it, then 15 minutes seems reasonable to me.
