So? Who says we needed any sponsors?

Our sponsors were the people who bought our bear suckers and peanut brittle. Many times I would go with Mom up to the church to make another batch of bear suckers. Sometimes she would realize she forgot the key to the fellowship hall door, and she would send me through the window, yet again, to crawl in and unlock it.
Thats one way to do it. Sounds like a good group your with. That's actually something that I said way back in this post is that you should look for parish's that are not tied to an institution for sponsorship. They rely solely on the congregation and bringing in money, having rich congregation members sponsor the church or ministering to gain funding and support.

You also said a few things about pastors of all churches except your chosen church, and those things you said disagree with what you just said.

Trade that broad brush in for a number seven, fine bristle. Your freewheeling assumptions about an entire group are not holding up very well.

I would settle for just not putting down a whole group of people you obviously don't know anything about. Can you manage that?

Basically. What you're telling me is that I do not need community.
Nope, I attend church. While many people here don't, you will never hear me say that.

And what I have realized is that I do need a healthy community that is being lead and guided by Jesus Christ and the holy spirit.
So we agree...

I don't think that I could follow your advice. Cause I'm not willing to give up community to rely on scripture and Holy Spirit alone. And I believe that god requires a healthy community to grow and walk in the faith.
I think you might need to re-read what I said.

I am happy and content to learn from eastern orthodox understanding of scripture which has been preserved and taught through oral tradition going back to apostolic succession.
Just gonna quote an old but good song " It's not what's over the door of the church that you attend, that makes you a child of God or heavenly citizen. Can't you see it's what's in your heart, and not what's over the door". Your church isn't going to save you. There are too many arrogant churches that believe they have something special. Before God, He sees us as individuals. It's not what's over the door that will take you to heaven. Count on it.

I believe that I have made some mistakes. And I've said some things that are offensive. I believe that I have been judgmental. I believe that I have made assumptions. I also believe that I don't have to appease anyone I don't believe that I have to validate myself. I don't think I have to explain myself. Except that I'm sorry and it's not for me to play God. And it's not for me to fight the battles. It's not for me to try to persuade or convince anyone of anything. God has instructed to love to pray and to forgive and to live a life that's modeled after Christ.Everything else is in god's hands.
