How to be someone’s miracle in a modern world.
Today I was sitting in a small park in the city watching a homeless person beg for money as many people walked past commuting to work.
In Australia it is popular for people who are homeless to ask people for money and in their signs they say "God bless you".
The sad reality is that most are not real Christians. Asking people for money and saying God bless you is just a technique they have in prompting people’s conscious to give money. Maybe they think Christians over all are the bigger spenders.
However people walk past and cheerfully give.
It shows me that regardless of people's motives people who are not true believers can lie to get money for their alcohol or drug addictions and people who don’t believe in God can walk away feeling like they are good people.
Then you have the real Christians who give and the real Christians begging for money. Maybe they are disabled or some other reason.
All, in all God shines the sun and makes it rain on the just and unjust.
Looking past this, the greatest thing we can do for someone else is point them to God. Not just point them to a God that will provide for all their needs because as we can see he even does that for people that don’t have faith in Jesus Christ for their salvation.
But point them to a God that will change their lives so they are not self-seeking any longer.
To lay down one’s life to empty one’s self of self is a great miracle because we are so sinful and selfish.
Ultimately Jesus laid down his life so that yours would be raised up. That you would start to put others first like he did. That you would allow the Holy Spirit to come and live in you to change you.
That you would start to love the weak and vulnerable and learn the Gospel to offer others life.
How many people are you taking with you to heaven that are transformed and passed over from death to life?
This life isn’t about what you can get out of it or the multiple blessings God's going to give you for yourself. Like Jesus says pick up your cross and follow him.
Blessings.
