repenting is to change our thinking, This is what changes our actions.
Repenting is not living up to a set of rules and regulations, and thinking your spiritual and blessed by God. As paul said, A gentile who does not know Christ can by nature obey the laws of God without even having the law. So obeying some law to some standard to make God happy with you, and try to earn his love is legalism. It is self motivated, not out of love.
God said we have all sinned and fall short of his glorious standard (literally missed the mark) No one can live up to Gods standard and be worthy of eternal life.
Saying this does not promote a sinful lifestyle Saying it does not saying it is ok to sin, Saying it is admiting a fact of spiritual truth.
Those who love God because they experienced his true love wil follow him, and learn to love his ways, and in doing so will follow his commands.
Those who follow his commands to get something out of it, will also follow his commands.
Sadly. Niether will be able to live up to Gods standards, and fall short of the glory of God. The only thing is left is redemption, which was paid by the blood of Christ, His sweat, His body, His life, His sacrifice. NOTHING we have done, are doing or will ever do will make us worthy of his sacrifice or his love, for we all fall short.

So what are you going to do about it in the will of God. Continue to condemn, or do as Paul?

When you go around and preach 2 + 2 = 4. And someone comes and asks you why 2 + 2 = 5, It is not a valid question. He needs to reread what you said so he can stop making a fool of himself.

No, both Christ and the new me are real, not just Christ. I live not to pretentiously live, yet, set apart from God as an individual, I myself am Identified with Christ, thus I live and obey in real time as a real person unto that new power. Faith is a forward thing of myself empowered by God, not a resting place of myself unchanged by the power lifted to Heaven.
Freed from the bondage of obeying sin and the burden of the penalty of eternal condemnation.

If there was a great product that has been sold for years which was upgraded to an evern greater product, which could give us so much more than the previous version could even think of giving us.
Do we let the person who is trying to get the upgraded product to work via the instructions of the old product. or do we try to show them that there is a new and better way, and you can not work it like the old product?

Faith does not sit, Faith works.
It is the faith that saved, not the works which come out of faith.
We rest, because we no longer have to try to do it ourselves, or work to get things done, We rest, because now we can rely on the power of someone else to do it for and in us.
The law did not work because one it could not be fulfilled. and 2, it had to be done by our own power. and we lived or died by how good we did (meaning we all died because none of us could fulfill it) ie, it showed us our weakness.
Grace overcomes because I am not bound by that law, I am freed, and since I have been given the love of God I can now share that love with others, which is what I was created to do (I am now in my natural state, where as under the law. I was in my unnatural state) thus I am empowered to fulfill that law I could not even come close to fulfilling under the law.
Greater yet, I am not judged when I stumble and fall, and do not do as I was created to do (which is sin) so I can boldly go to the throne room of Grace and without fear call out to my abba father, who loves me undconditionally. Which gives me even greater freedom to go and fulfill the law as I share his unwavering, and unconditional love to my neighbor.
As paul said, Love is fulfilment of the law. because love doe snot harm to a neighbor.

Do you know notuptome that liberty in Christ is called a law also ??? (James 1:25)
There are still standards under the new covenant that believers are told and said will uphold, and Jesus teachings and commands are part of liberty that Apostle Paul is speaking on. He does not use the term liberty in the way that we can choose to live however we want, as in we can obey or not obey.
Because Apostle Paul follows it up with a clear warning to not use liberty for the opportunity of the flesh, or in other words how he said the same about now being under grace should we continue to sin, GOD FORBID !!!
He expressed that last part in Romans 6:15 because if one keeps reading you will see warnings he gave to believers for continuing to sin.
What made you think that? Is it because I quoted what Jesus said to the pharisees?

For everyone else who will actually hear -- obvious question? What's the difference between this response and legalism? Aren't both bought at the price of self-righteousness? Isn't the OP presenting a case of "Ha ha! I'm better than you are. My righteousness doesn't stink"?
There are four responses to the law:
1. We must do it all to be saved. (Legalism.)
2. We are totally free from it. It is no longer relevant, so we can do whatever we want now. (Anarchism.)
3. Somewhere in between. (Most people.)
Those are equally as wrong responses. The only thing that makes people feel good about themselves with any of those responses is the never ending nanny nanny nu nu, (which I recently discovered most people think is "nanny nanny boo boo"), little piles of groups fighting the others because any particular pile thinks they're right and, on here, you can always find others to join your pile, just as long as the others agree with you 100% of the time, and let's keep fighting our fight over any of this stuff.
But then there is the only right answer:
4. God! Jesus! He who created the law and kept the law. He who is the law. He who fulfilled the law specifically for those whom the Father has chosen and the the Holy Spirit enables. He who has not given up on who he is, simply because humans can't make the grade, but he who gave some the way to do that, and see that, and be that, strengthening them in that.
NOT "I'm right, you're wrong, and since you're wrong, you're a slithering snake, nanny nanny nun nu" mentality.
Nor a verb tense problem. Nor a keep yammering and maybe you can bully someone into believing just like you do. Nor an "I'm always right, so I'll never be bullied by you" response.
One game changer -- God.
So while the bullies keep on bullying at different angles, more and more people leave this site, because the bullies have taken over... instead of God!
There is the other choice. God! How about not letting the anarchist vs. legalists vs. all viewpoints in betweens keep gaining their satisfaction in the size of their pile of group? How about not playing along with them?

Using God's holy word to do so, of course. ALL of it, not just part of it.
