Humoursly (almost)blasphemous??

Does anyone else struggle with when they lose it with their toddlers, and of course cuddle and apologise for yelling too harshly, and then think, well, at least I didn't flood them... or kill any the first born today

I don't have children, but I have nephews and I know from my sister that kids can be a lot to handle some days. Christian comedian Mark Lowery says of himself as a child"I'm the reason some animals eat their young". I do understand you are joking. Please don't take it personally if people take you seriously here and say something nasty. Some people weren't gifted a sense of humor.

Haha yup! My oldest is TOUGH. If I didn't have a sense of humor (even a morbid one) I wouldn't make it through.

Humor is a gift with kids. My super stubborn child will often change his ways by throwing in some humor. Just be careful with negative Nancy's cousin Sarcasm. Little kids rarely understand it and when they do (like mine) you'll regret when they repeat it back to you!

I've mentioned how much I truly love my three children many times on this forum. That said and truly meant, there were times when they were younger that I overreacted, or raised my voice, or misjudged a situation. Not a truckload of times, but times nonetheless, and I honestly felt HORRIBLE after each and every incident. I always immediately and humbly apologized to my children, and cried out to God to help me to become a better parent. The last thing that I would ever want to do is to somehow harm my own children who are absolutely gifts from God.

Anyhow, the real issue wasn't with my children, but with me instead. For starters, parenting was something completely new to me (and everyone, initially), so there's definitely a lot to learn, and, unfortunately, some of what I learned was a direct result of the mistakes that I made. I ultimately learned that it was my own frustrations or inabilities that were the real problem, and God has helped me to grow tremendously in those areas as I've been open to his correction and instruction. My children and I are very close now, and I know that they know that I truly love them. Just keep apologizing if/when you do wrong, and keep seeking God to help you to grow as a parent by his grace, strength, and wisdom, and he'll do just that. His grace is sufficient, and he's the ultimate parent himself.

Thank you all for the lovely comments despite my fairly dark humour. Thankfully nothing can separate me from the love of God or my love for my sometimes infuriating toddler
At the moment we're battling wake up times. Apparently 4am is the new 6am. Needless to say, I need my humour now more than ever

13 years later she's turning out awesome, and I still cringe when I remember my less than loving overreactions.

No.. some of those thoughts never had as in joking.. some of it is not humor at all. I know how your saying it but.. some of those things GOD never would say never joke about. On earth as it is in heaven. Oh God has the greatest humor of all yet.. things we joke about here are never will never be said there so why say it here?

Oh my goodness thank you for being truthful. I had to relearn how to raise my children. I grew up with parents that communicated by yelling,lol. I myself am usually very calm and quiet person.But have had my moments . Dr. Dobson on the radio had helped me understand alot. Especially with my stubborn child.
