Yeah, that person probably isn't going to like the answer. Life and death are under God's authority; so if you don't recognize God's authority this is the kind of reasoning you will use.

The command is not, do not kill. The command is do not murder. There is a difference between killing and

In the broadest sense, the definition for sin is [essentially] "that which is against God"; therefore, God cannot commit sin - because, He is never against Himself.
This really should solve the whole issue.

God defines sin - not man. Any definition we come up with is ultimately based on His definition.

Please remember this is an Athiest and LGBTQ-loaded question or point they like to make. I will point out how hypocritical they are. 1. If, as they say, God kills a person and it is not a sin, then how can God call killing a person a sin? These same groups would, in one section, tell you who is to be killed and think they are right in doing so for the collective good of others.
Yet Killing is not a sin. Shedding innocent blood is.
Atheists and LGBTQ make their own righteousness because they believe they are gods. Yet they question God, whom they can't see but will judge others if you do not agree with them on their sexual preferences. We, as Christians, do not have to defend God.
Those of the LGBTQ see themselves as the protected class more than even Blacks in America. So they violate the laws of the land because they do not fear the consequences of their action as they do not fear a God whom they can't see.
They just want Christians to accept their perversions and abuse of children. God never will. Will the Church?

Actually (in the U.S.A.), a police officer is in violation of the law if over the speed limit while not in an active mode of crime prevention. As a general rule - if the police car lights are not flashing - the police officer driving the car is in violation of the law. They are only allowed to "break the law" while in an active mode of crime prevention - and, having made due consideration/judgment that it is necessary under the circumstances:
~ "in hot pursuit" of someone they deem to be in violation of a law
~ "on a call" to a bank, residence, etc. (and, in a hurry to get there)
- stuff like that...
They are not allowed to "break the law willy-nilly" just because they are a police officer.

In other words, they have rules they have to follow - and, they have to make sure their actions do not hurt/kill anyone, etc. - they cannot be careless.
They have to use their turn signals, etc. just like anyone else - etc. etc. etc. - unless they are in an active mode of crime prevention. Then - and only then (technically) - there are certain "laws" they can "bend"...

- Every human deserves to die. The fact any of us live at all, even briefly, is mercy.
- God is omnipotent and therefore qualified to judge humans in a way no human is qualified to do
- God is our Creator and therefore justified in both judgement and mercy towards us. Even if He were capricious - and He is not - we would have no basis to accuse Him of any wrongdoing.
In talking to everyone, I always say, "I believe that...." or "It's been my experience that...." They can't disagree, because it's what you believe or have experienced. Therefore, it keeps the conversation loving, when I don't try to say that they have to believe or experience what I have. In this way, I am God's seed-scatterer, not someone who tries to argue people into heaven. God will make the seeds grow, as he wishes. That's called respect of them as God's human creatures.
