Hello Everyone,
Just to lighten things up a little in the good old Singles Forum!
I was thinking the other day of "most embarrassing moments in front of someone you had a major crush on." The inspiration for this thread comes from the moment in "Dirty Dancing" when Jennifer Grey's character is introduced to Patrick Swayze's and she says, "Uh... I carried a watermelon..." and then repeatedly verbally kicks herself for supposedly sounding like a big dork!
When I was about 14, I took an all-day babysitting seminar on a Saturday with my friends, including this boy I had a MAJOR crush on for several years continuing on through high school (he had these eyes that could melt steel
).
Naturally, I was very nervous but a bit excited that he was part of the group we were in... even more nerve-wrecking is that our group leader (and I PROMISE I didn't bribe her!!!) chose him and I to be partners throughout most of the day. I was a bit of an anxious wreck, in a good way, of course (yeah, right.)
Towards the of the day, we were practicing safety maneuvers, such as CPR and... the good old Heimlich Maneuver, in case of choking. Part of the exercise included... practicing the move on your partner... (it felt more like a wrestling move than a safety technique!!!)
Now of course you can imagine all the typical fears and horrors of a teenage girl in this situation--what if I'm so fat he can't even lift me? What if he strains himself in the process and everyone sees? Etc.!!! But I'm glad to say, the object of my (pointless, unfortunately) affections made it through just fine without breaking his back.
However, when it came my turn to practice this life-saving move on him... I was so shy and so reluctant and hesitated for so long... barely even putting my arms around him... until finally the instructor said, in front of EVERYONE of course, because I'd waited so long that everyone around us was looking: "Don't worry, honey, you're not reaching so low that you'll accidentally feel something you shouldn't be feeling."
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! I WAS ABSOLUTELY MORTIFIED!!! It is simply not possible to turn more shades of red than my face was at that moment!! And, my poor crush was just as embarrassed as I was.
It truly scarred me for life... as even now... being the "good Christian girl" (ha ha ha), I try my best to avoid guys who want to practice any supposed safety moves or wrestling techniques!
HA!!!
So... what's your story??? Share the pain and tell us all your most embarrassing moments of love.
