I found everyone had some really good points . we all want to be loved even when we are at our worst .. because of our own depravity of not knowing god fully , we all have a long way to go ya know? this is where christ comes in .. Forgiving us and loving us regardless if we deserve it or not .. all we can do is be thankful for that unconditional love that is never depraved or short of our short comings... we simply stand up , forgive , love ,and try it again

This topic really gave me an opportunity to reflect on some things in my own life ..
before I came to know the depth of gods love for me , I was attracted to everything that looked and sounded good .. got sone good lickins for it too.. Pivotal lessons of my separation from God.. But all that Hurt to the very end where I wanted to give up on love is exactly what sent me running into the arms of God .. everything ends up workin for His greater good .. The hardest part for me was stopping long enough "die to exceptional thirst of being loved ) to come to really know this love I heard so many talking about .. My first thought was (how can you be satisfied emotionally and physically by something you can't tangibly touch or see??) I thought it was rubbish .. But When everything else about love failed , and my heart was
completely broken.. I wanted no part of that way of loving any more .. coming to know gods love is like an anesthetic .. For lack of a better word ..I started tuning in and listening , started going to lectures , studied it and then began talking to God about how depleted I felt .. its pretty amazing how quickly my time with God became my replacement for the depravity of my lack of Him.. The very thing I wanted came from the very resource I tried last .. Today? I'm content in my relationship with God .. That thirst ? That hunger for touch ? has been transformed into something more beautiful .. I no longer look for someone to satisfy me .. to touch me .. God does Something in your soul that quenches the hunger .. but I had to stop and come to know it .. not knowing Gods love hurt my life greatly .. I had no comparison to what genuine love is .. Or how to discern if I was seeking love or looking to give love .. seeking love depletes the emotional love account of another person , when we aren't being filled with Gods love .. Its a red red flag we aren't spending enough time coming to know the love of God in our relationship with Him.. his well of love is greater and deeper than any we will ever come to know ..a never ending resource .. I found when I became fully satisfied , I was then looking more at "how" to love someone by a means of different courses .. I more flexible towards their relief .. I haven't been in a relationship since coming to know christ , but I see the difference in my temperament with people , family and life in general .. Everything is brighter instead of bleaker .. I am mire content instead of dissatisfied .. able to wait in Christ instead if running out ahead of him seeking something of my own instea allowing God to bring it in by his perfect will and plan ..
I had to make enough mistakes and get tired enough to get to this place .. and really all the advice about it didn't satisfy what I needed the most and that was a personal one on one encounter with the love of god directly, quietly and intimately.. that unseen, untouchable thing I forever questioned could do anything better for me ? turned out to be the most satisfying , enriching love I have ever known .. forever waiting for me, forever loving me , forever hoping for my return ..
Thanks for all the wonderful posts here .. I am able to see where I've been , where God has brought me from and too..
I am beginning to finally see the love of god tangibly in and through others now without feeling the need to touch or obscure it in any way .. there's more of an appreciation for the love of God in them .. Wich becomes even more beautiful than what I knew before .. Anyway .. thanks for allowing me to share and join everyone in their sharing too.. The heart is a tender thing .. And laying it all out there for anyone to see takes courage ..
I often think of the beauty of how we practice it out on one another .. Not always right , doesn't always feel good , but I see that even in this post we are working it out amongst eachother .. Seen or unseen , those uncomfortable bumps with another person is often the very thing that helps us to love better down the road, the way god loves us ..

It's well said by powEM !

God's Love works through us, who are His, and, ultimately, that love we feel for another is human love and it's OK, we are all human, we all have our love that is not of God's best for us, and, the Enemy, who IS Satan is out there, and, that snake will soupy-twist feelings quicker than you can say 'pretzel, hold the salt,' :D But, yes, seriously, when we have met someone we like we just need to realize that God will either make it RIGHT or not RIGHT, as that is where 'Mr. Right' saying came into being, believe it or not :D I'm kidding, nothingbutHistruth, ok, k :)

So, keep on studying Hebrew or mopping your floors and meeting guys as the Lord leads you to them, count every opportunity His blessing for you, as you do it RIGHT :) and, sooner or later, His Love is going to be been in that other person, as through prayer and, I'll say,' fasting, and, just putting your knees on the floor more and more and telling God what you know you need is Him first but, that you think you are falling in love and can He make it right in His perfect 'Love' way if it is to be. God hears our prayers before we even utter them, but if we VERBALIZE (not talking about speaking out loud, just speaking to God, in our thoughts, our prayers, our true feelings of another we are thinking we are falling in love with :) ) our feelings of love of another to God and ask Him for discerment on the matter, God will help, He is there, in fact, He is there, living, inside you :)

10 pages ! Great thread idea, k :)

... admit it or not ... we are all looking for that true love in our life, for love reflects the Nature of God: in whose Image we are made in. If we do not find it directly, we 'read into things' hoping it is there, hiding, waiting to be uncovered and reveal itself to us ... I believe Keren ... as well as many if not all of us ... are in our own way, seeking this and hoping it will occur in some way.

...its just how we perceive and react to things - process them; that differs --- but we need to understand the essence of what is being communicated; and not just see and understand things on a superficial level --- as they may appear at a glance --- but look much deeper ...

...we need to have understanding of the heart of a person, and honour that desire for love; and not be demeaning to it, regardless of how things may appear to some on the surface - even to the person themselves - : there is a far deeper aspect to it ....

Nicely said and true acording to the word.We should allways reflect him and he is love,so it should be natural to want to love :)

I use to be more concerned about looking for the reflection of Christ instead of "being" a reflection of Christ to someone ..
There's a fine balance in both .. I think as long as both parties together are strengthening their relationship and growing in their relationship with Him the gap between two people "sort of like a triangle with God on top and each person at the bottom of each corner" closes .. both becoming closer as they move towards god on Christ ., with all three ultimately becoming one .. lots of learning , lots of failing in trying , ya just keep loving and doing .. And allow God to work it out

it's gonna come from the doing. not from the dreaming of doing :) some things you just have to walk out first

Yes ma'am You're absolutely correct .. to be able to do it with a genuine heart full of peace about serving your partner is a maturity level Wich comes only "speaking about my own life and what I am coming to know " when Gid has healed all the scars and broken places so it's my only focus .. To Recieve that same level of focus Feom
Your partner ? Can you imagine the blessings in such a thing ? The encouragement God brings healing such places in my life allows me to wait in Christ until such a preparedness has entered into the heart of a man who knows it too.,

Beautiful!!

The word "wisdom" brought a verse to mind immediately I thought I would share " one of my favorites "
1cor 1:25
For the foolishnes of God is greater than all mans wisdom, and the weakness of God is greater than all mans strength ..

loving someone is never foolish .. It's an attribute if Gods highest command , "love" .
I can't help to think if we allowed the love of God to fill our life to a point of overflow .. All that would spill out into the world ..
Accepting and loving one another in the place "God" has brought each one of us too in our journey towards Him.. How much more accepting and loving we might be to see that it is God who has ordered each one of our steps .. Perhaps that position
being a moment or a while with us.. A place of opportunity for both people to know the love of God through us .. .. how many opportunities do we miss to bless one another because we forget it is God who thinks enough of us to share one of His creations with us.. who ultimately is a display if His glory.. to think that God would share any of you with me is a orivelage and honor .. Because I see you as a work of his hands .. His idea of what beauty is .. his idea of the gifts and talents He chose to put in you .. "His idea" .. When I take myself out of the equation of who you ought to be and start looking at the miraculous beauty that you are made by our almighty Almighty God, I find it so much easier to fall in love with "Him" even
more .. I wonder what love in the world would be like if our thinking was transformed to such a level that we love with the thought of God in mind. Sorry, I'm a deep thinker , not a daydreamer , an idealist, or theologian .. I do however have a heart for the things of God .. Wich causes me to love the things he has created by His own ideas , His own hands .. To think I look at a human being before me and know I am looking at Someone tangible and absolutely "real" that came from his very thought , formed by His very hands .. I think "Wow" .. Just absolutely "wow!"
Okay I'll stop ")

I would contend it isn't completely our choice.

Nothing is completely our choice, but a mixture of what we cannot control and what we make of the situation.

even though i am kicking an dead and ugly horse by rereading this thread, that i am doing. and ritter i adore this comment. if you stopped reading this thread due to the conflict therein? good for you!

but i wanted to say this anyway.

Well..if we have free will ,which God gave us..of course we always have a choice to draw near or pull away from anyone or anything. If someone has fallen in love with another person & it's true love, certainly they can push that love away, sever themselves from it..run from it...harden their hearts from that love if that's what they choose. They will be absolutely miserable I think in the end though. I feel that it comes down to being responsible & owning up to our emotions & feelings that's all. Of course you can be attracted to someone...fall in love with their personality, their heart, their smile, their mind...whatever & it may be an unexpected thing that this happens, but we choose to pursue it. No one forces us to do so. I dunno if I answered your question, but that's how I feel on the matter. I'm not saying I am right or wrong. I just have to go with my heart & trust God I am making the right decision, and as I am submitted to Him,then I'll have that peace that comes with "falling in love".

and this too. this is awesome stuff <3

hahaha i am awesome.:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool: end of dead horse kicking. i mainly wanted to calmly analyze what happened in this thread to see if i was well mannered in the way i expressed things to my attackers. sometimes in the heat of the moment we don't always respond to conflict in a wise and respectful manner. but i have reread the whole thing and i did great.

high five truthie. high five.

Welllllll.......

If to love someone is to respect their boundaries, then you couldn't possibly fall too easily! Probably not easily enough in fact!

Read 1 Corinthians 13 and see if your feelings match up with what it says. You probably just have an emotional feeling that you are mistaking for love (as I have done many times in the past).
If you focus on God's word and seek only someone from the opposite sex who is serious about the important parts of being a Christian (loves God, is committed to the moral laws of the Bible, is waiting until marraige for sex) God will "set you up" and you will be with someone who you actually have a chance of lasting with for the rest of your life. Being with a worldly person means they won't have the same committed ways as you and they won't place high value on God or the Bible. When you make a mistake they will also be quick to punish you, becuase they don't know that "love always forgives" as it says in Corinthians. A non-believer also has one less reason not to cheat on you- they don't fear God's commands about adultery. This to me is the ultimate unattractive quality- not believing in or serving God.

I think that if a person chooses to be with someone who does not believe in, love or respect and seek God, they may have chosen their own fleshly desires over God.

true enough! as i am falling, i tend to smother people i love....not really respecting boundaries at all there. BUT. i always ask them to tell me if i AM overstepping my boundaries. and no one has yet. so they must like me :)
