For some time, I have made fun of people making the statement that "we needed to be ready for Jesus' return." My premise was that if you aren't already "in Christ", you aren't going to be able to do anything to "get ready."

This afternoon, God clearly showed me one thing. And that is that very few of us on this forum are "ready."

James 5: 7-9 (go read it at the end of this post) tells us plainly that we (Christians) are going to be judged if we are squabbling among ourselves... even though we will still be headed for whatever "Heaven" is.

I honestly can't confidently say any of us here are "ready" in that sense.

James 5:7-9 New International Version (NIV)
Patience in Suffering
7 Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. 8 You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. 9 Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!

It's not squabbling. It's "correcting." :rolleyes:

Many a doctrine is like a window pane. We see truth through it but it divides us from truth.
 
If anyone wants to be ready then as i have said many times before we must seek love above all else.

Yep. I think that is the secret. Keep your heart floating in love.... in all circumstances. I miss that goal a lot.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

"Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God's holy people."

As believer's, knowing the word of God, we should be teaching, training, correcting, rebuking and contending for the truth:

teaching: didaskalía (a feminine noun derived from 1321 /didáskō, "teach") – properly applied-teaching; Christian doctrine (teaching) as it especially extends to its necessary lifestyle (applications)

Training: properly, instruction that trains someone to reach full development (maturity).

Correcting: epanórthōsis (from 1909 /epí, "on, fitting" intensifying 461 /anorthóō, "make straight") – properly, suitable because straight, i.e. restored to its (original) proper condition; hence, correction (referring to something that is aptly "straightened out").

Rebuking: Reproof, To reprimand; strongly warn; restrain

Contending: epagōnízomai (from 1909 /epí, "focused on" and 73 /agṓn, "a contest, competition") – properly, to contend (literally, "struggle upon, appropriately"), i.e. with skill and commitment in opposing whatever is not of faith (God's persuasion).

And unfortunately, we need to do all of the above (a lot) because of the false teachers and their false teachings in these last days. But as scripture states, it should be with patience, gentleness, kindness and in love.

Well it is a goal that is not easy to reach and takes a lot of falling before it flows richly in us but above all it takes a heart to heart connection with God

I see what your saying and yes this is very true, there is a fake love that many use to win the hearts of others then there is God's love that wins the souls of others

A lesson that I am very eager to learn is one that Paul learned. He learned how to live a content and joyful life whether he had more than he needed or whether he had less than he needed, I have been very excited to learn this lesson from God but I think in order to learn this lesson there are lessons I need to learn first like true thankfulness for everything
