Several years ago, my computer was trashed by a trojan. I clicked on a "free" virus checker which was the opposite. I recovered the computer but it took days. Last night, it was very late and I clicked on a link in an email supposedly from the tax office. I realised my mistake in time. I gave my computer a thorough scan, which takes about 7 hours.

It's too easy to let you guard down, especially at 3.30 in the morning, Please stay safe; don't follow links on emails unless you are 100% certain that it's legit.

i actually just erased 4 emails that looked weird and did 2 last night also....

I was searching for an email that has ended up in my spam filter. I saw one purporting to be from the Australian Tax Office. I take those guys pretty seriously, so I clicked on the link without thinking. It was obviously a dodgy web site. I have a reasonably good antivirus program with Trojan detection. That is essential these days.

i opened a spam email a while bask, but i did not click the link. so, thank the Lord for that!

I recommend using Linux mint, or another end user friendly distro, for daily web surfing.

It has been so long since I had to worry about viruses that I don't even know which antiviruses are good anymore. I could probably do some googling and find out, but I never have a reason to.
