Why did Jesus say, "No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man," in John 3:13, when CLEARLY, in 2 Kings 2:11, Elijah is taken up into heaven, and he NEVER descended, and the same can be applied to Enoch, he never descended either.. So, where's the explanation to this, Christians?
 
If you read the New Testament, you'd see where Elijah did descend from Heaven. In fact, everyone who has gone to Heaven has first lived on Earth, and they were formed by God in the womb. They came from Heaven.

However, that's beside the point.

The main point is you have already said bye to Christ, haven't you? Or is an explanation actually going to change your mind? You are a Muslim who wants to be right, because you are afraid Islam is not the way. You didn't come here to be convinced, you came here to convince us. Maybe when you're older you'll come to Jesus.
 
It is a good question, one which I personally dont have the answer for. That said it seems a strange point to latch on to as your "ah-hah! Christianity isnt true!" moment.

Here is a guess, nothing more: The word ascended can also mean climb up. Perhaps it is a simple translation issue. Certainly nobody has 'climbed up' to heaven by their own effort, except for *perhaps* Jesus Our LORD(thinking out loud here).

This could just be my interpretation, but Elijah didn't really ascend. He was taken up by a chariot of fire. Jesus ascended - no chariot of fire or anything like that. Or am I taking the emphasis of the verse out of context? (i.e. Jesus being in Heaven prior to coming to Earth?)

Perhaps you need to read a bit farther in John 3 to find out the answer.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [SUP]17 [/SUP]For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. [SUP]18 [/SUP]Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. [SUP]19 [/SUP]And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. [SUP]20 [/SUP]For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. [SUP]21 [/SUP]But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” John 3:16-21
 
There are many things in scripture I still don’t clearly understand. If I had to wait to understand them all before repentance and acceptance of Christ I would never be saved.
 
Hmmmmm. Dangerous things to let your eternal destiny rest on the logic or wisdom of mortals.

I know Islam is BS, but I think there's greater questions even to regard for Christianity. Nice attempt though.
 
This is an issue of translation. Elijah "went" to heaven. The word ('alah, ayin lamed he) also means "ascended" in Hebrew, and probably in Arabic. This has been pointed out. Enoch walked with God, and thus was gone; only traidition says he went to heaven after, and not everyone agrees. The Greek anabaino in John 3, is closer in meaning to Enoch's situation than to Elijah's, as it carries the connotation of doing it under His own power and choice, baino meaning to climb, rather than to be taken. This is what Jesus is claiming of Himself, not of a whirlwind, or of a disappearing act.

Like most Moslem thought, the question is intended to prove that Jesus is simply one of many prophets. In the original languages, Jesus is claiming to be quite a bit more.
