In theory, I fully agree, however, in practice it is not always that simple. When a person uses (intended or not) inflammatory language in an OP or a comment, and that language is focused on some person or group who simply disagrees on a point of Theology, it is hard to let such language pass without commenting on it. Especially as those who disagree may well BOTH be sincere and devout followers of Christ.

There is a perfectly clear example of what I am speaking of on this very thread. Now, I have quietly bit my tongue, and let it pass simply to maintain the stated intent of the OP.

Presenting the idea of Christ is a fight. It is against all of mens ideas and logic and understanding. There is no way for a person to remove the veil of another persons mind. This veil is only removed in Christ by the Holy Spirit.

So we will have a lot of mis-understanding. And arguing.

I agree, and while some here may find it impossible to believe, for every point of Scripture/man's ideology I argue, there are so very many more stated on the Forums that I simply allow to pass without commenting on.

AWC, I'm just quoting this portion of your OP, because it is the heart of the issue you've raised -- what do we do? But the OP itself is outstanding! You're absolutely right, most of us on here forget Who our focus is, and why boards like this exist.

What do we do? We stop giving the rabble-rousers the attention they so desperately desire and start actually fellowshiping. We ignore the controversies, the pet theologies, the deliberate efforts to destroy fellowship, and encourage, edify, and love one another.

Even those who get along still have minor differences. That isn't what I'm talking about, though. I'm talking about the obvious false teachings we all recognize and seem irresistibly drawn to confront them. But with some threads the last few months reaching over 1,000 posts each with no resolution but a great deal of animosity, anger, insults, and frustration, it should become obvious to us that there are a handful of people whose sole purpose in coming here is to sow seeds of discontent.

What we need to resolve to do, as the core membership here who want to love and serve Jesus Christ without dissension, is simply refuse to respond to the provocative threads. Let the false teachers post away. They will then horn in on threads that have nothing to do with their pet subjects to try to disturb those, too, and we continue to ignore them. If they have no audience, they will eventually lose interest.

BUT this seems to me to be the answer I've been wanting, so, I'm adding a quote of it, so others will see it and raising it back (for now) to page 1, in hopes the bros (and bro, in Philly sense -- non gender related word) will agree. I think there would be far better fellowship if we just stopped trying to counter prove-a-points.

It's sad how people who claim to belong to Christ so savagely desire to see others banned as opposed to helped and then rejoice in the same when it actually transpires. Somebody posted a bunch of happy emoticons the other day because somebody had been banned and I literally almost threw up when I saw it.

In retrospect, I probably owe Tribesman an apology in that he seems to have been speaking generally and wasn't describing his own specific desire to see others banned. I'm sorry. I've been on the receiving end and the giving end of this one. I don't need to read another post to know what happened and why. One of the things we need to keep remembering is it is God, not us. You've done God here, so I commend you on that. You did semi-God on the other post, since your heart was to protect, you simply missed that was also Tribesman's intent. We are human. This is to be expected. As long as we keep aiming toward God, we'll get there.

I believe there are handful on here whose sole purpose, as I said, is to create division, and when they are accosted, it gets personal. But it gets personal because they cannot separate themselves from their pet heresy.
