I really don't mind being single

If I want to get onto my computer at 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning, I can do that. Or lay down on the couch and watch the late night shows.

I used to think that I needed a guy in my life in order to feel complete. I always thought that once I got to college, I would find my soul mate. I tried to find him everyday, around every corner. I always felt so alone without that special guy. However, it wasn't until I read the book I Kiss Dating Goodbye that I finally moved on from that stage in my life. The one thing that book helped me realize is that there is a purpose for a person to be single: "the gift of singleness". I realized that I was so concerned about finding a boyfriend that I put God on the sidelines. The reason why I was looking so hard was in hopes to find someone to fill a hole in my heart but I realized that hole could only be filled my Christ Himself and He was just waiting for me to allow Him to fill that spot in my heart. Since that point, I have grown so much in Christ, and I believe that would not of happened if I had a boyfriend. I know God is still shaping me into the person I am suppose to be. I know now that I have no business being in a relationship at this point in my life, so instead of feeling lonely, singleness is awesome. God is awesome!! :)

Alot of people will go through alot of heartbreaks in their lifetime trying to find that special someone, however, I try to stray away from that path. Don't let being single discourage you, I have faith that everyone will find their special someone eventually.

I know the special someone is out there, I try not to thank about it. the # 1 thing that Loves me is GOD.
 
Hey everyone, I think that you can use your single years to accomplish a lot for the Kingdom. Yes, I love the idea of being married, or a good old-fashioned courtship but we must be honest in the fact that there are somethings as a single you can accomplish with ease and less distraction. When you are in a relationship you're juggling your time. Being single can suck at times, like going to your friend's wedding and not having a date, that cute date movie comes out and you've no one to go with. However, what about the first time you received salvation, or you had been praying about something and God gave you conformation, or how about the sun rise, stars, butterflies, rainbows, and ocean waves... these were all created for us. God loves us so much and if we take time to look at the things He has made for our enjoyment we will realize, we are loved beyond belief. He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 He has plans to prosper us and plans to give us a future and hope. He has it under control, and I have learned that you should keep God first and make Him the center of all of your relationships; who better to learn love from, than LOVE Himself!
 
The main reason why I want to be married one day is so I could have my best friend as an evangelism partner!!!!=)

Many christian men and women remain single for various reasons,freedom,being able to do what you want,go where you want,no responsibilities,live life your way etc. etc.

God has a different view, Genesis 2:18,it is not good for man to be alone(single) I will make a help meet for him. (Eve) Adam was in paradise conditions,God was present with him,he got to name all the animals
vs.20,but there was something missing in Adams life
God knew what it was but Adam did not. You know
what happened,God took one of Adams ribs and created a woman,and brought the woman to Adam,
and God called Eve his wife. God did not create man and woman to be alone(single)but to be married. It is Gods will for a man and a woman to marry.
You want favor with the Lord,get married,
Proverbs 18:22 The only condition that God would allow you to be single,is if He gave you the gift of celebacy,very few have that gift,when God gives you that gift it is to devote 100% of your time to Him. You will not desire to be married you will not desire to be with a woman,Paul had the gift of celebacy
1corthians 7:7-8 Jesus again stated what He said
in Genesis 2 in Matthew 19:4-6.

As a single person,how will you help populate the Kingdom of God? That is one of the reasons God gave mankind the gift of procreation. A christian
who remains single,will have trouble in the flesh,the
devil will see to it.
You are single and desire a help meet,by faith ask Jesus to give you one,He gave Adam one mark 11:24
I am believing Jesus for a perfect mate that He has for me,His choice not mine,and I know that it will be
a beautiful relationship made in heaven.

ends burn evenly and together uniting into one
eternal flame.

Marriage is holy in Gods eyes! and it is His will for a
man and a woman to marry...Genesis 2:18,24
 
constant craving .... it will happen at His time .... I wait obediently .... with trust, faith, patience, hope .... I believe in us
 
I can't help but notice that your post, altho filled with scripture refrence, is also laced with your opinion and selective scriptures picked to back it up.

1 Chronicles 7:1-6, that you conveniently left out, supports a whole other train of thought. Marriage is a concession... not a command. It is good, and yes some favor may follow it specifically, but you will not be outside of God's favor if that is NOT the way you go.

I would also like to know where you derrived that Paul was given the gift of celibacy or was that an assumption, because I don't remember reading anything like that in my bible travels... just inquiring minds.

Im glad someone else on this planet thinks the same way as i do about dating and how everything thinks they need someone to be happy. you have to learn to be happy while single.

Genesis 2:24 Let a man leave his father and mother
and cleave unto his wife,not leave his father and mother and cleave to his apartment,and the single life.
All thru the OT and NT we see that the Israelite sons and daughters did not leave the home until married,then left for their home,to raise a God ordained family.
I know a man of God who has 8 children,his sons
and daughters did not leave home,until Jesus gave
them the husband or wife they were believing Him for,then moved out of the home to their home to raise a God ordained family. I was blessed to be in a new testament assembly,all the sons and daughters did not leave home,until married then established their own home,to raise a God ordaind family.

In my case I left home unsaved and got involved in the world and its ways,when Jesus saved me,I thought I would continue to enjoy the single life,I
heard a message from a man of God called "Leave
and Cleave" I saw that it was Gods will for me to marry.I could not wait to believe Jesus for the mate that He had for me,His choice not mine.

As a christian we have no opinions concerning Gods
Word,but to obey His Word.

so what about the people who are actually called to be celibate?
what if you are called to a different state, or country before youre married?
i honestly dont feel that you should live at home until you get married.
you need to learn how to be independant and rely on god with AND without a partner.
what if you dont find that person until your 30s or older?
where in the nt does it say to live at home until you marry?

in the ot the father and husband to be would talk and basically trade the
girl for a certain number of donkeys, goats, ect by how much they felt
the girl was worth. times have changed a little.
 
Yes, I second Tara Lynn's questions. And Eagle... yes your opinion is very much evident through your explanations... you gave 'your' interpretation of a scripture and therefore it IS your opinon... and like I said... you only give the scriptures that back up your argument... doesn't look good... can't just pick and choose what works for you from the bible.
