I remember going to the library to look through a card catalog to find books and having to check them out in order to do a research report. The Internet made all that so easy it's now unappreciated how much work it used to be.

I remember when Ronald Regan said, Mr. Gorbachev tear down that wall and my Great Grandmother cried. That was really a monumental moment. I loved Ronald Regan, best speaker ever.

i remember when i would come home from school and would watch tiny toons, anamaniacs, batman, and bill nye the science guy.

I remember when we went to the kiosk to rent not only the VHS cassette but the VCR machine
(and that didn't happen often either)

and I remember when going to the cinema cost less then what the minimum fare at the bus does today :p

I remember when Saturday matinees at the movies were a double feature, and included a newsreel, previews, and a cartoon..... all for 12 cents.

I remember when a mule pulled a President's casket down Pennsylvania Avenue. It interrupted my cartoons, and I was annoyed, until I saw a little boy salute his daddy's casket.

A lot changes in 40 years. I have seen signs at the gas station on our corner (during gas wars) as low as 18 cents a gallon.

Normally around 27 cents.

I grew up on 19.99 cents, and have always wondered who collects the .99 cents?

I remember being late for 3rd grade, and getting a ride on the crossing guard traffic officer's motorcycle the three blocks to school so I wouldn't get in trouble. Back in those days, regular policemen did that duty.

I remember being mesmerized by "one small step." And then mesmerized by all the steps after that one.

I remember having to change TV channels by hand - what a hassel...but havn't watched TV now at all for about 5 years.

I remember a couple of times when the local National Guard came to our school and gave us rides in a tank in the field out behind the school. Another time they just brought a Jeep, but the ride in that was WILD..... turning donuts and stuff. All with no seat belts.
