i love my mom so much. she is the first person who told me about Jesus and basically paved a way for me to find Him on my own. i worry so much about her, and i worry so much in general. i feel like i’m losing my mind (i have a Psychiatrist and Therapist). i often find myself trying to put up a front with my mom because i don’t want to disappoint her. i am a young adult and gradually doing things on my own (work, socializing, etc.). i’m learning how to be responsible for myself. how do i stop the guilt loop? i feel like Satan is attacking my mind with thousands upon thousands of negative thoughts every day. i feel guilty and always relay it back to what my mom will think.

Hey there again. So first and foremost. Lay the right foundation. Ask what would God think? Our standard comes from the Bible's guidance. If you are weighed by guilt. Then ask why. If it is sin, simply turn away from it and walk with the Lord once more. He has paid for your sin. You are free from the guilt and shame, just as the woman who was caught in adultery, he defended her personhood, saved her, and simply said go and sin no more. If the negative thought is insecurities, ask yourself is this how God sees me?

There is nothing wrong with wanting to honor your mom but do so with the foundation of the Bible. If it is honorable be of good joy. If it is a lie from Satan, don't let it take root. Rebuke it with truth.

If the guilt is caused because you feel you do not live up to her standard, then again which standard is higher? Humans? Or God?

If you have yet to build what I call the truth foundation you must take every thought captive and filter it through the scriptures. If it is lovely and true, secure it in the foundation. If it is destructive and false, tear it down and remove it.
