It's waaay more complicated than that though! 1) where in the Bible does it say "all I want you to do is love people?"
2) If it were just about loving people then why don't more Christians do it????? 3) The first thing about loving God, that makes sense. But the question is HOW do you love God or better yet, how does God want to be loved by his people? How do we show God we love him? Well from what I can see...by keeping the ten commandments for starters...(see OP for verses).

First, you love GOD by believing his love for you. Then you show that love to others. Keeping the 10 commandments is not going to get you what you want. The priest and the Levite kept the 10 commandments and walked right by the man who had been injured alongside the road, but the good Samaritan had a loving heart and helped him. That didn't come from the 10 commandments, but from a merciful, caring heart.

If they are claiming God has a wife then you have the wrong church.
None of us have kept the 10 commandments, nor will we. We aren't capable. You right about trying to keep them as best you can and always trying to do better though. It just needs to be kept in perspective.

The festival...I don't think thats significant. What if he had a barmitzpha? Do we need to do that too?

You can stay in mainstream Christianity without total conformity also. Odds are pretty good that you'll never find a church that you're in total agreement with anyway.

barmtizphas are not in the Bible. I am 98% sure on that.

Also, what is to keep us from not trying? or why try if Jesus paid it all? We could just go murder someone and then "change our heart" and go to heaven right? We could be a compulsive liar but as long as we have Jesus we're saved so why keep the ten commandments? Why take them seriously? Why take any of the old testament seriously? Lets just rip it out of the Bible because who needs it?

Yes we established that....but does that do away with the ten other commands? Does it tell you "Love the Lord your God by loving your neighbor as yourself?"

It may be kind of circular. If you love God with all your heart mind and soul, then you would automatically keep his commandments. But none of us are that pure. We all have hearts that love things of the world to one degree or another. We all have ways to improve our relationship with God.

You show God you love Him by loving what (whom) He loved..... the people of this world.

Where does it say that?

We love, because [GOD] first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar, for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen is not able to love God whom he has not seen. And this [is] the commandment we have from him: that the one who loves God should love his brother also. 1 John 4:19-21

Oh! I didn't see this one! lolz. They say they are non-denominational...
Do you know if they were seeded from elsewhere? For instance I attend a non-denominational church on the west coast of Canada that was seeded from a Baptist church in Kansas. If you know their origins it might help pinpoint where their ideas come from, although calling us the bride of Christ does not mean we are married to God... yet ;) Jesus is still the bride Groom :)

Because these are the things Jesus and his followers believed, they are inspired words of God just as the Gospels and Paul's letters. You need the prophets to understand the relationship of Jesus to the Jews, how his birth and teaching were foretold. You need the histories and mitzvot to understand the prophets.

And, if you will notice, Jesus told us that every single law and all the teachings of the Prophets were to be found in obeying simply those two commandments found in Matthew 22.

They aren't but what if they were? I don't think we have to go through Jewish law.

And I doubt you're serious about murder, lying, etc. What was that all about?

I have no idea.

It's just I have seen so many people sin and be like "it's ok! I'm saved and an imperfect human!" And it drives me up a wall. Also it would depend on if it was part of the ten commandments or the mosaic law or part of the appointed feasts and festivals given to the people directly from God.

Bar Mitzvah appears in the Talmud around the advent of Rabbinic Judaism, late 1st century, after the destruction of the second temple by Titus.

Besides ....Christ said to keep the commandments in Matthew 19:17.

So, honest question here: why did Paul keep the feasts?

I, for one, don't know. No more than I know why he said women couldn't talk in church nor teach. So, I will let you find the reason in the Bible, and show it to us. (Biblical reason, that is.)

I have no idea.
I would suggest asking some questions except for the fact that I don't think you necessarily should be hanging around to find out. I hear people complain about this church and that church often here, but I seem to have been spared the bother. Thank God! My pastor is a very good teacher, a wonderful guy, his wife is great, they have lovely children, and the congregants are warm and accepting. I hope you are able to find something that suits you and fills your need to have the Truth taught and exposited.

Why do people so often refer to the ten commandments in relation to obedience/ the law to follow. That's a cop out. The beatitudes is a far higher standard if you like than the ten commandments. If you want to look to the literal letter, go for gold, not silver as it were.
Once you do that it wont be long before you focus on Christ rather than the letter!

Because the whole point is that we are now grateful to be free from sin, not free to sin. There is repentance, and murderers and liars can repent, believe and be saved as well, but the idea is not to go back to that, and not to run towards sin in general.

Remember the dog going back to its own vomit?

"Proverbs 26:11 - Like a dog that returns to his vomit is a fool who repeats his folly."

Nobody should return to their old worldly ways...we should accept the grace that has been given to us.

Remember the two most important commandments Jesus gave in Matthew 22:37-40:

And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’38 This is the great and [o]foremost commandment.39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

Those two commandments encompass all the commandments, and we follow these commands out of love.
