do you believe you can be unsaved after salvation?

True salvation results in a changed life that reflects Jesus in all their thinking and their ways. I don't believe in OSAS, but it doesn't really bother me if a person believes that as long as the evidence of the changed life is seen in them. One of my absolute favorite Christians is Dr. Charles Stanley who believes in OSAS, but is fully submitted to the Holy Spirit and reflects our Lord Jesus. (Yes, I'm talking about him in the present tense even though he went on home to be with Lord already - but he's just asleep - not DEAD dead like dead unbelievers. :))

Indeed. I think if we can become unsaved we were not saved at all.
Salvation is a. trust,faith,covenant,with God. And God believing in us. That does not stop when in relationship with our sovereign father who has dominion over all his creation.

Just my 2 cents.

● 2 Cor 1:22 . . God; who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the
Spirit in our hearts.

● 2 Cor 5:5 . . God; who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

● Eph 1:13-14 . . Christ; In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the
word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye
believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the
earnest of our inheritance.

The Greek word translated "earnest" basically pertains to a pledge in the
form of a security deposit, for example:

Real estate transactions usually involve a sum called the earnest money
which serves a specific purpose in the real estate business. In some quarters;
this is also called good-faith money.

When the contract, and all the other necessary documents are submitted to
Escrow, the buyer is required to also submit a token amount of the purchase
price. It's usually a relatively small number of dollars compared to the full
price of the property. I think ours was just $1,000 back in 1988 on a
$74,000 home. When the buyer follows through on their intent to purchase
the property, the good-faith money (minus some Escrow fees of course)
goes towards the purchase.

However, if the buyer decides to renege, then they forfeit the good faith
money. No doubt that's done to discourage vacillating buyers from fiddling
around with other people's time and money.

So then, since God's Spirit is a security deposit; then, according to the
principles underlying pledges, should God betray a believer's trust by
reneging on His promise to spare people who hear and believe the gospel,
then He forfeits; and the believer gets to keep the Spirit regardless of their
afterlife destiny. (cf. Gen 38:16-23)

But of course God won't renege because doing so would not only embarrass
Himself, but embarrass His son too as Jesus has given his word that
believers have nothing to fear.

"I assure you, those who heed my message, and believe in God who sent
me, have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they
have already passed from death into life." (John 5:24)

There are people who actually believe God can get away with reneging on His
promises. A belief of that nature of course insinuates that God is a person of
marginal integrity who's capable of dishonesty and can't be trusted to make
good on anything He says.

OK. Here are some Biblical quotes that would apply here.
—“I exhort you to CONTEND EARNESTLY. For the faith…” Jude 1:3
—-Do not believe every spirit, but TEST the spirits, to see whether they are of God because many false teachers have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1
—-Find out what is acceptable to the Lord and have no fellowship with the works of darkness but rather EXPOSE them. Ephesians 5:10-11.
—-Charge some that they teach NO OTHER DOCTRINE. 1Tim.1:3
—-If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to the words of our Lord Jesus Christ and (His) doctrine, he is proud and knows nothing…From such withdraw yourself. 1Tim. 6:3-5.
—-We should no longer be children tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine by the trickery of men…Eph. 4:14
—-Whoever goes onward and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. 2 John 9
—-CHARGE some that they teach no other doctrine. 1Tim. 1:

…….and many more such scriptures commanding us to take a stand for the truth, the doctrine of Christ and “rebuke”, “expose” , “charge” , and “CONTEND” for God and His words.

You can’t be “unsaved” if you were never saved at all. God “saved” His people Israel from Egypt and promised every one of them the “promised land” (comparable to our “heaven”) but “unsaved” them when they disobeyed him to go into the land and they were destroyed without ever getting their reward. God never promised salvation to people who were disobedient or unfaithful. REV. 2:10. Yes, God’s salvation is free to all but just like today, free gifts come with conditions and requirements that must be met in order to receive. God has not promised to save anyone who does not believe in Him. Because we must believe, does that make his salvation NOT a free gift?? Faith is one of the conditions or requirements that must be met in order to receive the free gift.
Almost every free gift has conditions that must be met in our society. “ Be one of the first 50 customers and you will receive a free gift.” Or Come in today and receive your free gift.” Fill out this form to receive a free gift.” Etc, etc. Every person understands and accepts this except when it comes to salvation. This is the lie and deception of Satan. Beware!

Which is why I said, if some insist we can lose our salvation they were not saved . Because faith and salvation is a free irrevocable gift of God that we do not earn nor work to retain.

A lot of people are going to be surprised when they find out that no, they are no longer saved because they stopped abiding in Christ but still think they're Christian just because they go to church and know what the Bible says and know all the Christian terminology.

That's what it means about the 5 foolish virgins who didn't have oil for their lamps. And that's why Jesus, the bridegroom shut them out and never opened it for them.

So Christians shouldn't get careless, but maintain "their lamps". That way, they won't get a bad surprise at the end.

I think the surprise will actually be on those who think they have to labor to keep God's free gift. Who believe they abide in Christ and fail to know it is a relationship.
One where the Holy Spirit abides in those who are irrevocably Saved too.

1 Corinthians 2 and verse 14 especially is enlightening to indwelt Christians.

Those who think Salvation is a two fold system, someone freely chooses to believe and be Saved and can also choose not to believe and lose their Salvation shall be the ones surprised. Because they think they can reverse their rebirth,etc...



Because all that transpires in a Christians redemption is permanent. We are God's choice. If he can save us he can keep us. Even if we stumble he knows our name.

When a Christian abides in the Holy Spirit, He's the one who causes and empowers that Christian to obey God and do the works God the Father has set for them. So the work is all from the Holy Spirit and not ourselves.

So you're accusing the Holy Spirit of His work in a Christian's life to be sin.

Also you're ignoring completely what Jesus Himself taught about the 5 foolish virgins and it's meaning. That there are Christians who exist that stopped abiding in Him (virgins without oil for their lamps) who no longer belong to Him but still think they are.

bringing along enough oil for their light sources. That may be true, but I
rather suspect that their mistake was scarcely related to the oil and mostly
related to abandoning their posts.

Had they stuck to their guns (so to speak) they could've joined the
procession along with everyone else. They may have endured a measure of
chagrin for letting their lamps go out, but at least they wouldn't miss the
party.

In other words; they let something relatively minor distract their attention
from something far more important; sort of like Nero concerning himself
with trifles while Rome is on fire all 'round the city.

● Matt 25:10-12 . . While they were on their way to buy the oil, the
bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the
wedding banquet. And the door was shut. Later the others also came. Sir!
Sir! --they said-- Open the door for us! But he replied: I tell you the truth, I
don't know you.

The thing is: while the entrance was open, the general public was welcome
to come on in and join the celebration, but once the door was shut and
festivities commenced, late arrivals were permitted inside only if they were
the bridegroom's friends; which emphasizes that the invitation, though
generous, offered a limited window of opportunity which if missed, was lost
forever.

NOTE: It's commonly proposed the oil in the parable of the Ten Virgins
relates to the Holy Spirit, but had the five girls returned with the Holy Spirit,
the groom would've readily allowed them entrance because the Spirit is
depicted in the Bible as a credential validating one's inclusion in Christ's
family circle. (Rom 8:9, 2Cor 1:21-22, Eph 1:13-14, Eph 4:30)

Why do you think it had nothing to do with the oil? If that were true, their running out of oil would not have been such a big deal and they would have just stayed to meet the bridegroom and go in at the same time with the 5 wise virgins.

You're also assuming that if the foolish virgins did return late with oil (the Holy Spirit) that the groom would have reopened the door. But that's not what Jesus said - you're adding to His words.

He told that parable with finality that the foolish virgins completely missed out and the bridgegroom was never going to reopen the doors for them. He had given everyone plenty of time to get ready as can be shown by the 5 wise virgins who already had oil for their lamps.

It's like when students have to take a final exam. The teacher gives them the date of the exam, giving them plenty of time to prepare for it. Those who studied for it will pass, while those who didn't won't. The ones who failed the test aren't going to be given a make up day to retake the exam - the semester will have already been finished.

It's simple - God gives you plenty of time to be ready for His return. Just make sure you are ready and full of the Holy Spirit.

● Eph 5:30-32 . . We are members of his body. For this reason a man will
leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will
become one flesh. That is a profound mystery-- but I am talking about
Christ and the church.

It appears to me that the joining spoken of in that passage doesn't take
place during the wedding ceremony, rather, it takes place in the bedroom,
viz: in private, behind closed doors. For example:

● 1Cor 6:15-16 . .Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ
himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with an
harlot? Never! Do you not know that he who unites himself with an harlot is
one with her in body? For it is said: The two will become one flesh.

Anyway, the unity going on with men and women in the human sphere is
carnal, whereas the unity going on with Christ and his church in the divine
sphere is supernatural.

● 1Cor 6:17 . . But he who unites himself with the Lord is one spirit.

NOTE: Folks out there insisting it's possible for a saved person to become
unsaved are committing an unthinkable sin by tampering with something
extremely complicated that is way, way out of their depth.

"What God has joined together, let not man put asunder." (Mark 10:9)
