So...a young man who detests his father and engages in immoral practices is saved? Was the child who didn't leave also saved?
No one is saved without becoming a partaker of the Holy Spirit. And those who are genuinely saved evidence fruit produced by the Spirit. Where do you find evidence of this in either child.
There are many who associate themselves with God who aren't saved.
Did you miss the part of the story where the son was sorry, told his father (God) he was sorry, and his father ( God) forgave him and took him back? Where did we lose you? God’s word is plain and easy to understand unless you don’t want to.

Just a simple question: what produces faith...the word of God or an individual's response?
That’s easy. Roman’s 10:17-“ so then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Gid.” The Bible definition is never wrong. Every example of conversion in the book of Acts shows this.

1 Corinthians 4:7b; John 3:27; Romans 9:15-16 What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did also receive it, why do you boast as not having received it? John replied, "A man can receive only that which is given him from heaven." "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." So then, it does not depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy.

Sure, I caught that part. But he returned much differently than he left. Your problem is you think Jesus told 3 parables. He only told 1. Each part adds something to the whole. Leaving 2 parts out destroys the context.

I suggest ignoring anyone who insists we can become condemned again, lose our salvation. It isn't Biblical and the very argument culminates in declaring Jesus,God,a liar.

Consider these teachings compiled from scripture. (What Christian insists they're not saved?)

IGNOR those who disagree with you? Satan couldn’t have said it better himself. That’s exactly the kind of advice he would give. He doesn’t want you to study ( 2Tim 2:15), or “test” the spirits 1 John 4:1, or “search the scriptures to see if those things are true” like the Berians did and were complimented for doing, in Acts 17:11. You might learn the truth and he would lose his hold on you. Yes, ignoring those who disagree with you would be the easy thing to do—and the devil is all about that!

PLEASE pray for @enril - they've convince him of OSAS. He struggles in certain areas of his life and believing in it will only make the struggle worse!

I do believe that he will realize that it is a false teaching someday, but he is going to learn this the hard way.

PLEASE pray for him!

How many parables he taught does not change the meaning at all. The parable of the prodigal son is about a child of God leaving, throwing away his inheritance (heaven), thus being lost; then repenting, and returning to God, and being restored to his former state (saved) as a son.

Right. So it is always God working through His word to produce faith. I agree.

Thank you so much! I got saved as a teenager like him. Just like him I didn't believe in OSAS at first, but so many smooth talkers convinced me of it.

It was the worst thing because OSAS colored every decision of my life in that I had grown lax in my walk with God. I didn't grow at all in my walk with the Lord and habitual sins weren't addressed because I didn't think it was urgent.

But many years later, after facing the consequences of not addressing this, God made me face up to reality and made me realize - OSAS is false! I let God opened my eyes and it is all there in the Bible! That a true Christian cannot go on sinning and that God has given us the Holy Spirit to empower us so.

And from then on, I submitted to the Lord and I couldn't believe how fast He helped me to change and grow in Him. I actually overcame my besetting sin! I thought I never could, but I did!

So thank you so much that you will pray for him. I really don't want him going through what I did. I don't want him wasting time when he could be happy growing up in the Lord and having an amazing close walk with Him!

Nope. It's about God and His plan for the redemption of mankind. The story isn't about whether one can lose their salvation or not. It's about how the role of Father, Son, and Spirit in salvation.

Here's the thing. Christians do not feel insecure in Christ. This is because we are sealed by Christ in his grace covenant all our days.

False teachers insist this is not true.

While Christ dying on the cross as the last lamb slain so to take the sins of the world , notice the passage didn't say in the world, upon himself and therefore end the power of the second death upon his Elect is irrevocable Gospel truth.

We are a new creation. The old self is dead. We are reborn in Christ who told us,we,no one,can come to him unless the Father calls, leads, them. And this is because as sinners who were dead in our sins we could not comprehend our condition.

And being in that state we could not understand our doom as sinners. We also could not understand the import of the Gospel because the things of God are foolishness to us.

Unless Holy Spirit God enters into us and opens our consciousness so to understand the things of God.

Jesus did not die so we could have conditional salvation. We do not have temporary life dependent upon our behaviors.

Jesus told us Salvation is not of ourselves, we cannot choose to know Christ because we are first in our human nature fallen condition. Which to sinners is just life itself. Carnal, materialistic life.

When God calls us into his grace, being that's the only way to enter it, we cannot then choose to unseal ourselves, nullify our redemption and rebirth and enter back into the fallen dead in our sins state of being as we once were.

Because to do so would put God's authority and grace gift in the power,at the discretion, of humans wil.

In truth your argument against that is untenable.

Further and lastly, Satan would push the false doctrine that claims eternal life and salvation, that irrevocable free gift of God, is a lie . Because Satan is the father of lies.

Satan wants Christians to be afraid rather than secure in Christ. Satan would want our self consciousness to think we must work to earn heaven. Because Satan's ego is fed by the damned.

God tells us to test the spirits. The test often comes to us in places like this. When we encounter those who claim we can give God's gift back.

Satan wants us to think we are in control at all times. Like he tried to wrest control of heaven from God when Lucifer led angels to war against God so Satan could overcome God in his own realm .

When false teachers fail the test that is the Gospel truth of eternal irrevocable salvation by insisting it is not so, we already know what those tested false teachers do not believe.

They only have to prove that once.

Because once we know this of them Gods other directive comes next.

Have nothing to do with darkness. All darkness accomplishes in its dedicated endeavor to minister repeatedly an anti gospel is provided a backdrop that allows we who are in the light to be seen. Yet remain untouched by their lies.

Satan wants people to believe Jesus failed and God is a liar. And many do. They insist it is true.

That is their mistake. Because that is their fallen human worldly nature making an idol of self and will.

Have a good day.

He may not know it, but he is blessed to have someone like you care about him. I have already prayed for him and will continue to do so. I hope you can somehow let me know when he finds the “truth”. I know God will help him.

True. (Matthew 7:22-23) There are genuine Christians and there are "nominal" or pseudo-Christians. There are genuine believers and there are make believers and it's not hard to find them mixed together in various churches and on various Christian forum sites. Beware of those who teach salvation by faith (their version of faith) + works and those who suffer from a severe case of anti-OSAS derangement syndrome.

Yes, indeed, beware of them if you don’t like the “truth” of God’s word.
