Verse: Hebrews 13:2a
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers... -- Hebrews 13:2
Reflection:
Yesterday, I was at work, when a neighbor walked in. She was obviously concerned.
She had locked herself out and her husband could not call her, as her phone was locked in. (Question: How did people survive before the advent of cellphones?) And now the boss had let her in to use the phone. I suggested to her that "You might want to stay, so you can hear when he calls." But she decided to leave. (Yes, he called soon after.)
This was another person in the nearby community, another stranger to me, whom God let walk into my life. It was not my hospitality that brought us together; it was another who saw someone in need and then provided for that need. But perhaps something bigger was taking place when he and she met and he welcomed her with kindness. Perhaps God has other, better, deeper intentions.
People met: Locked out neighbor
Closing Notes:
Go out of your way, in the next our, for someone else... intentionally praying that God will use it for His glory and their benefit... even if you never see or even feel the results as you'd like.
