No worries! I derail all the time. But I think there is a difference between the conversation taking a turn (good) and someone bringing up an unrelated topic to argue (grrrr).

Immature? Really? Let's see what God's view is on the situation, shall we?

Genesis 3:6 says, "So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate." emphasis mine

What does this mean? Well, Matthew Henry states it plainly enough:

1 Timothy 2:14 tells us, "And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression." Here, we plainly see that to keep saying, "Eve is the reason we're all sinners" is false. Adam sinned willingly, Eve, though she did truly sin, she was deceived. How pompous is man to blame Eve for their actions! It seems to me that men who want to domineer women and crush them, they turn to Eve and pour all the blame on her, yet we see who willingly forsook God and did what he wanted to do, regardless of knowing what was right and wrong.

I could go on for awhile, but I'll close with this. Romans 5:12-15 states, "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. "

Notice that Eve is not mentioned even a single time. Not once. But who is mentioned many times? Why, Adam, of course? And what does it say? It says that through ONE MAN sin entered. Not through ONE WOMAN.

And, again, he didn't eat it because he loved her. He ate it because he wanted to and he could care less what would happen between him and God and him and Eve. How do I know? Because that's the reason ALL OF US sin. Because in the moment, we could care less what it means to God and others.

I stand by my original quote and will say that I don't care what Matthew Henry has to say as I study the bible...not Matthew Henry...so if you want to regurgitate what some man has to say then be my guest...ALL I did was make a quote and state a few facts...you responded in a mouthy, unchristian immature way.

So, back to the OP the only thing that would kind of freak me out would be two men (or women, even! Or, a man and woman that weren't married or related or dating, too!) kissing hello...just because of my culture, you see? Though we know that the Word of God tells us to greet each other with a holy kiss, I could never let someone kiss me randomly (in truth, at all...always been uncomfortable and awkward there...even with aunts and grandmas and such) but due to the acceptance and constant bombardment of homosexuality, the kiss between men in church, well, would ick me out a bit.

Maybe this is something that God really has to soothe in my soul. Greet each other with a holy kiss. A pastor I sat under the teaching of a few years back touched on this subject and it went nowhere. I think it is all about motive and heart and as long as it isn't a natural thing, rather a reactive thing, it wouldn't be holy and it wouldn't be proper.

Am I making sense?

Is Biscuit here posting? I had the hunch this thread came to be alive to show PARTIALITY (Feminism) after the "attack" we ALL had with the issue... Just by the moment I told Biscuit: "If I were you, I would run" I came in to be sure it was ANOTHER thread biased (not "ill biased", as some said defending -or backing up- Misty´s position).

In secrecy I agreed when Biscuit said: "Some people like to be victims..." Something like that, after calling him to be "within reason"... That´s where I liked the MASK you pictured.

If this is "normal" in American culture (I believe are few people) I´d better buy an island and dig deep somewhere else.

The fight for women's rights will continue, just like the fight against slavery, racism and apartheid did, until these practices, as entrenched in law were abolished. (Not saying everyone's beliefs or attitudes changed, but at least the law did not uphold these things)

I truly believe that God created men and women to be equals in the Garden, in Genesis 2, and that perfection was spoiled by sin and the fall in Genesis 3. (Read it yourself - too much to quote here!)

However, Jesus came to set us free from the law of sin and death and that includes the male hierarchy, and male dominance. What is sad is how so many Christians misread and misinterpret the New Testament, not seeing that Christ made everyone, Jew and Gentile, slave and free and man and woman equal. (Gal 3:28)

This article in the OP is an example of hyperbole. It is exaggeration for the sake of effect.

In other words, to make it simple, the examples stated exaggerate possible scriptural claims about men.

Sadly, the same is being done towards women, and people are dead serious that women should stay home, men should dominate, and the Bible supports it.

If you want me to go into the Greek again on the disputed passages, I would be happy to do it.

As for me, reading all this anti-feminist, anti-woman rhetoric, has convinced me that I should be getting more involved as a Christian in the battle for equality in the church, which continues to use bad hermeneutics to convince both men and women that cultural provisions are universal, not local!

Genesis 3:15 tells us that there is enmity between satan and women. So, satan hates women yet you claim that he loves women preachers, huh? Doesn't say that in the Bible. The Bible also warns against calling the things of God of the devil. Any man or woman who oppress women, attempts to crush God's will, call, purpose and moving in their life are listening to the enemy and not to God. The proof is in His word, where countless examples are given to show God calling women to lead and evangelize and teach and preach and only one verse removed from context and cultural influence is used to shove women violently into the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant and beaten down by boorish men.

I am not a feminist, but this mentality is the reason feminism arose and exists in the first place. Women are not second class citizens, they are not property, and it would be great if professing Christian men would stop treating God's women so shamefully and callously. Do you really believe your hatred toward women preachers and teachers is Biblical?
