I believe Satan is guiding many churches further and further into deception. War mongering is a good example. Why does he need to openly oppose Christians, when he can convince the pastors to preach hatred (bombing, murdering and maiming Christians, women and children on the other side of the world, who have nothing to do with us)?
He probably couldn't win if he took on the Church overtly, as God's Holy Spirit would prevail. So his methods are covert - take away the savour of the salt, and he need not cast it out - it will be good for nothing.
Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Actually, satan is the god of this world. God made the earth and the fulness thereof and gave Adam dominion over all the works of His Hands. Well, Adam committed treason and sold out to satan
Now,satan through Adam became the god of this world..
Satan has a right to be here (yes,he does) until Adam's lease runs out. Satan also had a right to rule over us until we became christians (new creatures, born again) and got to become a part of the Body of Christ.
Colossians 1:12-13....
12 Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified and made us fit to share the [l]portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God’s holy people) in the Light.13 [The Father] has delivered and [m]drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son [n]of His love
Now, Satan has NO right to rule us..
In 1 Corinthians 15, the Bible talks about the first man, Adam and also about the second Adam, Jesus Christ who in vs.45 is referred to as the 'last Adam' and in vs.47 as the 'second man'
Also, 2 Corinthians 4:4
4 For the god of this world has blinded the unbelievers’ minds [that they should not discern the truth], preventing them from seeing the illuminating light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ (the Messiah), Who is the Image and Likeness of God.

this is a copy and paste of a post i made some time ago responding to the most common 'proof texts' for the claim that satan rules the world...
on matthew 4:8-9...first of all it isn't wise to base a doctrine on something the bible quotes satan as having said...since satan is the father of lies after all... and yes jesus probably -could- have pointed out that the whole earth belongs to God...quoting psalm 47:8...or psalm 24:1 or exodus 9:29...and then argue that satan really had no right to offer him anything... but that wouldn't have been the best answer to satan's offer...because it wasn't a categorical rejection of satan's demand for worship...jesus would have left open the hypothetical possibility that he might have bowed to satan if satan's offer had been genuine... instead jesus' appeal to the commandment was the best possible answer...because it ruled out bowing to satan for any reason whatsoever...
on john 12:31...if you go back to the old testament...specifically the book of daniel...you will see what the biblical definition of a 'prince' in the spiritual realm is... a prince was a national spirit...something like a guardian angel or demon... the term doesn't actually involve authority or reign...as if the national governments answered to their prince... instead the role of the prince was to fight on behalf of his nation in the spiritual realm...so for satan to be called 'prince of this world' means that he and his forces contend on behalf of 'the world' in the spiritual realm...
finally on 2 corinthians 4:4...a 'god' is anything that people worship...the bible refers to the idols people worshipped as their 'gods'...even when they were nothing more than inanimate objects... now we know that inanimate objects don't have any authority...so this isn't a term that necessarily implies any kind of authority or reign... the 'god of this age' is just whatever the people of this age worship...that is what they put ahead of God or equal to God in importance in their lives... in the case of 2 corinthians 4:4 they are putting their satanic attitude of unbelief ahead of what God says in the gospel...
so there is really nothing in these three verses to contradict the plain meaning of psalm 47:8...God reigns over the nations...not satan...

Perhaps you misunderstood my meaning. I don't deny that God is ultimately in control. But the devil is described as the god of this world. The devil only has the power allowed him by God (see Job). Just because God is ultimately in control, does not mean that He doesn't permit the devil to work some evil. Just because I believe that Satan is deceiving many, does not mean I do not know that God is ultimately in control, and that nothing happens without His permitting it to happen.

God is in ultimate control,he will overthrow the empire of the wicked,and rebuild a righteous kingdom.There are however those that have hardened there hearts and rebelled.Satan is given a leash.He can only have as much power as God allows.
