Great choice. I happen to love the Book of James as well. It's so easy to read and very pleasant. Thanks.
 
This is true, which is why I encourage Christians to find someone in the Bible they love and can relate to. We are always so blown away with the people from the Bible (and we should be), but the wonderful thing is...they were just like us, sinners who needed the Lord and persevered in their ministries and struggles. King David is my personal champion. Bottomline, everyone's story is in the Bible...there is a story and/or person who we can all relate to.
 
In that day and age it was truly amazing how Deborah was such a powerful leader. I like to boast (just a little) about Deborah because she was so influential and respected that Barak, A GROWN MAN, refused to go toward Mount Tabor with ten thousand other grown men to overthrow Jabin's army WITHOUT Deborah. She even told him prior that God would deliver them into their hands, but he would not go unless she went as well: And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go Jud 4:3...lol. That is influence...anyway, she was a powerful woman!
 
James is a great choice and the Book of James is such a pleasant easy to read book. Thanks.
 
David...my favorite Old Testement figure! The most loved king of Israel! He gets a bad break sometimes, but overall his good outweighed his bad.
 
That was Jonathan...David's best friend. That story is found in I Sam 14. His father Saul, almost killed him for doing that, but the people saved him.

I like David, but I think if I were him, the whole course of history would be changed, 'cause I'd have probably missed Goliath and God would've had to save me from him. And then for the bride price to marry Saul's daughter, instead of smiting the 100 Philistines, I'd probably have had to offer them a special deal to convert to Israelites, or some "painful but beneficial" health treatment... Or something! So good thing I wasn't David.

I also like Moses, but if I were him, when God told me He was going to smite all the Israelites, I don't know if I'd have interceded for them... and perhaps they'd all have been smitten, and God would have had to raise up a whole new nation through me. And people today would be reading about the Mosesites, rather than the Israelites. So good thing I wasn't him, also.

I also like Gideon, because I think Gideon relied very much on God, and because God worked so mightily through Gideon, I think I may have been successful as a Gideon. :D
 
I dunno, I'd probably be that crotchety old man Elisha who sicked the bears on the kids or something to establish that neither God nor even his followers should be mocked.
Yeah I know, terrible thing, poor kids.
But hey, they shoulda listened to their parents.
Same as we should listen to our heavenly Father.

Either that Elijah that taunted the followers of a false God instead of the the one true God.

I would like to be Priscilla, out there helping Paul bring the gospel to people who had no hope of eternal life and through what I was helping with, they would live. She must have been a very capable, loving, impressive woman.

almost forgot about that bear story........btw: was it Elisha or Elijah that had his students build the first school of theology?

From a more spiritual standpoint, I would be God's angel, Michael. Unlike Gabriel, when Michael showed up, it was usually not good for whoever he was about confront. I love Gabriel and all the other great angels who are mentioned, but Michael's missions seem to be filled with excitement and a sense of danger, but you know he's going to pull out of it as the victor, of course.
