Probably not going to happen, but it sure would be nice that once you ignore a person, for whatever reason, they can no longer put their x's or whatever on your post.

Barring that, I guess reporting continued harassment is reportable because some people here are a major pain in the ..... everything. :giggle:

I was going to hit you post with an X .... ......................my sense of humor is a bit warped.

I have never used it but .... I always kind of laugh at the X's because 99.9% of the time ... there is no retort ...to me it's just a neck blowing bubbles.

I dunno why people are bothered by the X. It just means "disagree."
It's a deep mystery, but this is why i like to point everyone to Aaron's thread regarding this issue.

This is most likely a limit of the software the site is built on. Translation, it can't be changed.

But ignore is just that. Ignoring what they do. Not restricting what they do.

And "a major problem for a lot of members"? In the roughly 5 years this software has been in use this is only the 3rd complaint I've seen about this, and only one of them seemed truly upset.

When I first signed on, I happened to innocently mention something nice about some 'Socialist' programs. I got accused of being a Marxist and Commie and other titles. I said something like 'gee you'd think I said God is dead or something' like Socialism would be worse than that, and someone actually said 'it is worse', lol.
If you or some other nice intentioned member ever gets insulted or called a name, hit the report flag with Forum name and post number, the Mods will look into it. Unfortunately, almost any Thread in any Forum can result in a showdown.

I know you don't mean me because I'm perfect :D

That perfectly perfect thing being said, I agree.

X is a legitimate symbol for Disagree.. I believe in freedom of Speech.. And disagreeing with someone is a freedom one should protect if one wants the truth to come out..

Harassment and freedom of speech are 2 different things, I never look at who posted the X. The X merely represents a person who disagrees but who does not have a viable response to make a statement on the topic. If you are harassed then report the person as was previously mentioned. If you are not responded to and still feel you are harassed then email the owner of the site. I never read the X poster's.

This is also a private forum. Freedom of speech then, by your definition, should eliminate the ignore feature too.

My definition does not lead one to eliminate the ignore feature.. People should be free to state what they want in regard to religion and people should be free to ignore what someone says in regard to religion.. If people cannot handle other peoples opinions they should have the option of putting them on ignore..

Personaly i have only put people on ignore when they have launched personal attacks.. People can attack my thoughts on God if they want, But once they start playing the man instead of playing the ball then that's where our fellowship comes to an end..

I sort of like the x(s), they look like as Hebrew letter aleph. However, I've not yet received an 'angry' reaction nor one for bad spieling.

Okay, and not to argue, but your original statement said that people should be allowed to express whatever their opinion is. In general, I agree. But, if someone has put someone on ignore, I think it's consistent to also be shielded from that person's non-verbal commentary. That's the point of "ignore".
