I think the surprise ending is that:
1. I was still alive and didn't bore myself to death while watching that clip (I cheated and fast forwarded through at least half of it), and
2. You're left thinking, "Wow, I can't believe I just spent 8 and a half minutes of my life on this! Look at how desperate I really am and how pathetic my life really is! Surprise!" (Though for me, it was probably closer to four minutes.)

Oh my gosh! I just sat there and watched all 8 minutes and 31 seconds of that waiting for some surprise ending! LUKE! you LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I so love the very spectacular ending!
I still can't get over it.
That's right!
It is kind of a sad ending. Its sad that it's such a short movie. I like a movie with so many twists and turns as this one had. You never know what's gonna happen next!
