Update
December 31st from Elfin:
Trey is doing well. They are making some big changes on his vent, trying to get him back on the home vent. He is being fed again, which is good because all this not feeding has left him waaay too skinny. We are praying that he will tolerate the vent weans, and his feeds, and that we don't start having belly troubles again. We are having an issue with his heart rate dropping too low with the steroi...d he is on, which I told them would happen, because it has happened before... But one of those things they don't think mom knows what she is talking about since it's not the "typical" side effect... Sigh. So hopefully he is doing well enough that
we can get him off the steroids, so we don't have to worry about a resting heart rate in the 40's. :/

January 1st from Cliff who has been with Trey in the hospital from the beginning:
Trey had a really good nights rest last night. He woke up at 5am and he's been rocking on his snail, playing and cutting up ever since. The plan today is to change out his trach back to his original one and change the settings on his vent a little more. If he tolerates that, then tomorrow we'll put him back on his home vent, which is a wean in itself. Assuming all goes well, its possible we could ......be going home Tue. If not, Trey and I should be home bound by the end of the week.
This appears to be the light at the end of our tunnel. The changes over the next two days are what will determine going home or staying here. I'm so thankful for everyones support, it has been a difficult time for Trey and our family. We couldn't have done it without everyone's prayers, thank you all so much. Please pray for God to have His hands on Trey's lungs these next couple of days. He and I are so ready to go home to our family.....I'm tired.See More
