The power was amazing. But I had no control! You really would need a lot of time to get accurate with one of those things. I developed a bit of appreciation for David just spending hours and hours every day practicing with his sling while he was guarding the sheep.

Just imagine the skills of one particular group of David's mighty men. The scripture says that they were skilled with the sling in accuracy and could cast stones with either hand. I don't think all that came from practice, I think it was a gift from God given for a purpose.

There are all sorts of things and colors throughout the Bible. Perhaps it would be fun to play "I Spy" with the scriptures of the Bible....:unsure:

The "Spyer" says, "I spy something GOLD." (The answer is "the streets of Heaven."); or
"I spy a coin." (The answer is "the lost coin in the parable of the lost coin.")

Each player gets 3 guesses and if no one gets the answer then, the Spyer has to give the answer and gets to spy something else.

With each wrong guess, the Spyer has to give a hint.

After 3 turns, the Spyer has to hand over the reins to another player to be the "Spyer."

Ready? Here we go!

There's so many things in the Bible about anointing oil!

I'll start with when Moses poured anointing oil on Aaron...


Exodus 29:7

King James Version


7 Then shalt thou take the anointing oil, and pour it upon his head, and anoint him (Aaron).

Here a dinner was given in Jesus' honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

Love this story . . .

That's an excellent guess! The anointing perfume oil that Mary anointed Jesus with for His burial. :love:(y)
 
I spy a special piece of wood in Exodus 15:25,

"And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,"

What is it?

Clue number two: this particular anointing oil is not mentioned in the gospels (as far as I know :unsure:).

Correction to post #67: it is in both Testaments, but the verse I am thinking of comes from an epistle ;)

The anointing of Jesus in Matthew takes place two days before Passover in the town of Bethany at Simon the leper’s home: “Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came up to him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he reclined at table” (Matthew 26:6–7, ESV).
Matthew focuses on the anointing of Jesus as a teaching episode for the disciples, who react with anger because of the woman’s wasteful extravagance. But Jesus defends her, saying, “She has done a beautiful thing to me” (Matthew 26:10). Christ explains that the anointing is to prepare His body for burial and that the woman’s act of love will forever be remembered wherever the good news is preached.

Okay, I searched "anointing oil" on my Bible Gateway app...there's only 1 mention of anointing oil in the NT:

James 5:14

King James Version

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

@Magenta - is this the "anointing oil" you spied with your little eye in the Bible? :unsure::giggle:

If not, then my next guess is the Holy Spirit which is God's Anointing Oil for sure! :love:(y)
