Sometime 100-to 239 years after the flood in Noah's Day the scriptures record that an event happened to the earth.

Genesis 10:25 To Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan.

Anyone think the Ring of Fire that exists in the earth started here and the land mass was all together in the beginning??

I believe that the dry land was one mass to begin with. I've seen pictures of the continents pushed together like a jigsaw puzzle. Some scientists believe that there was a "supercontinent" they've called Gondwana Land. It seems reasonable to me.

Nope, the division of the earth is referring to the scattering from the tower of Babel in the next chapter.

That is why IMO Peleg's lifespan was almost half of his father's. The confusion of Babel destroyed the unified knowledge of the revelation of God.
Or maybe because it was the thorough makeover of the entire earth by the flood. The idyllic environment that used to sustain centuries of lifespan no longer existed.

Thanks Omegatime, for your interest in Peleg. The Bible uses the word 'divide' to talk about correct interpretation of scripture. For example, Christians are told to rightly 'divide' the word of God. The Bible speaks of how Israel is to divide the land for an inheritance. This is a picture of how believers share the gospel and thereby are added souls that inherit Christ as well, who are now in fellowship with the ones who shared the gospel with them. Perhaps it may indicate dividing those things in Christ which are in accord with the gospel with those things not in accord. Of course, the name Peleg means 'divide'. He is the son of a man whose name means 'the region beyond'. Perhaps this may indicate spreading the gospel into regions that have not known it. Remember that the Old Testament provides pictures that are intended for the benefit of those in the New Testament church.
