hay, im interested in how different people connect with god.

Iv been having a lot of trouble the last few years, im still waiting and looking for god but i cant seem to connect.... :(

It used to be in worship but now i don't feel the same way as i used too. I dont feel like Iv EVER herd the voice/call of god. Can people be christan and have literally NO CONNECTION to god at all? The most iv ever felt was a warm loving feeling wash over me, but this was 4 or 5 years ago now.

I do believe in god, but i wonder if he believes in me???

I like the think people who clam to have a "special" connection with god are just making it up. But do any of you have any simple honest ways your REALLY connect with god?

I have struggled with this as well. I grew up in baptist church then pentecostal holiness so I've always been around people jumping shouting, running, all over the place being filled with the spirit as I just sit there and watch. I used to could feel the spirit of God in church when I would go to the altar when I was younger but for the past 7 years or so, I just did not feel anything. Prayer feels like Im talking to myself. Praise n worship turns into me just singing or listening to music and bible study turns into me just reading the words while thinking about other things. Recently, I prayed like really and truly called out to God and told him I wanted a closer walk with him. I also went to church and got prayer and sowed a seed and most of all I fasted. A lot of times we can't hear from God because we are so distracted. If you just clear your mind, fast, then pray and really spend time with Him, I believe you will see a difference. Fasting is the most effective way for me to connect with God. While fasting from food (Daniel Fast is my favorite) I also fast from distractions. Maybe turn my computer, cell phone, and tv off for an entire day or just block channels, websites, and people from my phone that I know I waste too much time on. Basically my advice is just to be one-on-one with God to truly feel a connection with Him. It may not happen overnight but if you are really serious about building your relationship with Him i believe you will see a difference after fasting and prayer.
 

I think most people would say that it's hard to 'hear' God. I think the main reason is because there's a lot of 'noise' in our lives that prevent us from hearing Him.

When I'm feeling particularly distant from Him, I make a huge effort to read His Word more...with prayer and concentration. And just sit and listen, asking and waiting for direction.

It seems that I make the most headway when I reflect on my own 'defects' and ask God to do whatever it takes to make me into the kind of person He wants me to be.

This usually means I've been harboring bitterness or resentfulness....I have to forgive;or I've been acting childishly about something; or I'm not exhibiting a grateful attitude; or I've been deliberately sinning against Him. Wow, there's actually a lot of possible reasons why we can't hear God's voice :) .

But I do know that He DOES hear us and He DOES answer us back; but we have to be tuned in on the right frequency ;) .

I constantly deal with a similar problem, as well. However, I won't go through the details unless you really think it would help.

I've found a few ways to connect with God that are helpful for me. At night, I used to lay outside and talk to the stars. That may sound weird, but the night sky always fascinated me, and I most certainly saw God in it. So find yourself a place in nature or take a long, quiet walk outside and see what happens.

Another way was through other people. I have a really good Christian friend who is like a sister to me. She teaches me so much, we have Bible studies together, and we share our difficulties about our walks with God with each other. I brings me closer to God because I know that I don't struggle alone in faith, and God definitely speaks Truth through other people.

Last way: Still keep praying about it, no matter how empty it feels. Believe me, I've prayed so many times thinking that my words reached deaf ears. But that is not what is happening when you pray. God responds when you pray. You have to have faith in that.

Last thing, I promise. Every person has a connection with God. Sometimes, God could be shouting to us, but we are simply unaware, not realizing that it is God's voice. God also has a still, small voice, and we need to quiet our lives and listen--"tune ourselves to the right frequency" as Lucy 68 said. While it is true that our sins can play a role into how well we hear God, God doesn't completely cut Himself away from anybody.

Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
God has spoken, and He said that He is surely with you. Don't rely solely on how you feel, because it's not always accurate. God definitely believes in you. With people who struggle with this for long periods of time, I've seen God reveal Himself to them in unexpected ways. Keep faith.

the mind touch that I share with him. Often through out the day I will whisper sometime up to him and think of him. I love the days when he sends me a heart in the shape of a cloud or a rock in the shape of a heart from the truckee river or a heart when i pour my shampoo in my hand to bubbles in my bubble bath. Unexpected beautiful hearts. For me its sorta a all day long affair.
 
Speak about Him with other the wonders He made with you, that works for me...
 
I try to find inner peace. I use prayer to change. I talk to friends. I go for long walks alone, sometimes cursing every one and everything, but come back strangely feeling loved. I know that God supports me because I am alive. I try to give thanks as best as I can. I try not to let garbage remain in my mind for long, as best as I can. I come on CC and I realize how I'm not alone in struggling. I try to love as best as I can.

It's not just about believing in God. Even the demons believe, much more than many of us probably.
It is all about doing the will of God that we find all about in the Bible.
Ask God for the Holy Spirit. He is the One who works change in someone's life, and a true relationship with God. Be totally honest with God about who you are and what you want. You can't pursue God and sin at the same time.

"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13
 
One of the ways that I connect with GOD on a daily basis is through music. I love listening to Christian music and sing along to my favorite songs...or listen to remixes of some Christian music. I can honestly tell when I listen to Christian music in the morning that I am more focused on GOD the rest of the day.

Turn it up and enjoy!! I can't get enough of this type of praise music. :)

The bible is a tool to connect with God. When you read and reflect on His word, you will get scriptural lessons and know His expectations and plans for your life.

My main modes of connection with God:

First off, prayer. When I'm praying, I'm literally talking to the Creator of the universe! And yes, he is listening. God always listen. I would imagine it's difficult for him to *not* hear, being all-knowing and all-present and whatnot. :D

Second, reading the Bible. These are the words of said Creator, given for us to live by.

Third, experiential. There's something about a cloudless night sky, with millions of stars twinkling overhead, which gives me awe and shows me just a glimpse of how powerful and magnificent God is. On occasion God will speak to me through various means. Recently he has been saying an awful lot to me about repentance.
 
In my personal relationship with God- one on one with just He and I - I stand outside and feel the wind on my face. I listen for Gods breathing - When the wind is still He is breathing me in, when the wind blows , I breath in Him
 
When i feel so lonely and distant to God. I immediately go to an isolated part of the house and pray to Him and read His word.
 
I sing and listen worship songs, i pray to Him with voice always at night and tell Him about everything happens on the day and just thanking and praising Him for all He has done and confessing to Him all the sins i made..(i always confess whenever i pray) because it makes me feel better and i know He cleanses me. I don't want the feeling of being far from God because He's my world and everything so i think and talk to about Him almost all the time, and of course reading the Bible, i think it's the best medicine. :)
 
This is the SECRET and the ONLY WAY. Phl 3:3 KJV - For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. .
Once you learn to fully put your faith in the work of JESUS ALONE, and put away your own self in seeking GOD, then you will come into that very place of entering HIS THRONE each and every time. It is all about HIS CROSS. Keep eyes on JESUS and what HE DID FOR YOU ALONE. TRUST ME, I have been where you are for 17 years until finally after just over a year, I learned this. Once you look as self even an ounce of self to reach out to GOD, the SPIRIT is GRIEVED. But once you put full confidence in HIS WORK, the SPIRIT WITHIN CRIES OUT ABBA FATHER. Fall in love with HIM for understanding what HE DID FOR YOU. The sinner woman knelt at the masters feet washing his feet because SHE KNEW SHE WAS FORGIVEN MUCH. THE religious crowd, because of their own works of righteousness, did nothing for Jesus in LOVE, because they looked to their own selves.
 
I think that is a very common feeling!
i used to feel that way too. What i do is just pray to god as much as i can. When i wake up in the morning i say good morning jesus! and i pick a time to read my bible or watch sermons and i feel that that has helped me with my relationship with God. Thanking him in the morning for being able to get out of bed without any struggle. You just gotta keep tryin :)
 
until about three months ago knew how it felt wanting god but never really being able to connect. it wasn't until I looked at my life and hated it, I was crying and cried out to god to just take whatever he wants and do what he wants with me just please let me love you and be a christian. I think you have to be willing to give up everything for god to know you are serious because that night i went to sleep telling myself he won't answer i wouldn't answer myself if i was in his position. But he did i woke up the next morning full of the holy spirit and praising him. It was then I truly was and am alive
 
Prayer and long conversations about:

Whatever is bothering me
why I'm thankful

I spend time reading the Bible, trying to "get it".
