Is it just me or does it seem like the media is encouraging more people to become atheists? So many books are now aimed at Atheists it is frightening. I stumbled across this one called 'Average Joel: how I Unfriended god'.

Wow very clever title (not). It's about a person converting from Christianity to Atheism and encouraging others to do so. What chance has the world got with people reading this stuff?

What are your thoughts? Is this just a feeble attempt from the ignorant or something much sinister?

Atheism carries very real and very serious consequences that are often glossed over by those adopting the false worldview. One inherent risk to both the atheist and the society they live in relates to the consequences of devaluing God's normative morality to a figment of imagination ingrained by biological and social conditioning.

As one atheist honestly stated, "Outside of my greedy little gene’s need to reproduce, only the fear that I might be incarcerated stops me from killing you and reproducing with your wife... so be nice if you want. Be involved, have polite conversations, be a model citizen. Just be aware that as an Atheist, you are an inferior one. When you are ready to join me, let me know."

The point here isn't that what this particular atheist wants is what every atheist wants. No, the point is that in an atheist worldview there is no ultimately meaningful normative reality respite with reward and/or punishment that echoes into eternity or normatively moral transcendent agent to guide their personal and social behavior. It is hard to find any sort of compelling motivation to act against one's own gain to accomplish objective moral values and duties one doesn't want to do without God.

That's why secular humanism is a spiritually bankrupt passing construct with no ultimate meaning whatsoever for, in atheism, amounts to hopeless amoral packages of complex bacteria on a dying planet, fueled by a dying sun, in a universe whose expansion is accelerating to the point that no life can ever exist on it again (and without life nothing is ultimately meaningful).

But it gets worse, for behavior drives personality changes both biologically through plasticity and spiritually over time. The denizens of Sodom, for example, weren't "born that way." They became over time immoral corrupt spiritually fallen agents of violent homosexual rape who would dare to try and rape even God's holy emissaries. But then in an atheist construct, why not? If it feels good to you and makes you happy and you can get away with it...

Removing the guidance of God's normative morality and His supernatural assistance to become holier more Christ-like individuals that act as salt and light aiding the societies they live in results in both individuals and societies trending toward becoming immoral and corrupted which of course brings increasingly negative consequences for both individuals and societies.

Of course, I'm just scratching the surface. In my experience, few atheists really understand the negative consequences of atheism nor the positive consequences of Christianity. They view their atheism through a lens of liberating them to act as free agents (primarily for their own benefit) and Christians as deluded people responsible for all the problems in the world... lol. In my observations, most atheists have been deeply deceived by the devil.

Genuine atheism isn't that much of a problem, indifference to Christ is.

There is always hope with Christ, it is getting to the point where cultural Christianity is becoming a thing of the past and the true Christians will stay true, I think it is apart of His plan.

One of the biggest problems with Atheists is that there are only a handful of them that actually understand what it means to live in an Atheistic reality. For some reason they don't believe in God but still believe that cheating on their wives, lying, and stealing are definitely "bad" things to do....for no apparent reason other than they are just "bad things to do"

You are so right! Why would anyone bother to do the right thing without even getting rewarded for it by god. It does seem crazy.

I'm not sure if you are being serious or sarcastic lol.

If serious, this response: I know right?!

If sarcastic, this response: That's the thing though. Without a God, there would be no "right thing" to do. Why would rape, murder, cheating, stealing, anything that society views as bad....be bad? Why have morals? Wouldn't they just be things made up by man just like God supposedly would be?

Without a God, the Nazis would not have been wrong for Jewish genocide because right and wrong wouldn't even exist.

A crazy and scary thought my friend.

lol

Sorry friend I wasn't being sarcastic. I believe being rewarded by god is the only motive one should have for right or wrong.

Why do you need a reward to do right? Why can't you just do right for the sake of doing right? People with your ideology scare me sometimes.

But isn't that why atheists are so bad because they have no reason or incentive to be good?

I know plenty of atheists. None of them run around raping, stealing and killing. That fact that you say you NEED God in order to do basic good on Earth is inconceivable. Their are plenty of people on this planet who follow no religion yet still donate time and money to charities and to help the less fortunate. God isn't some heavenly Santa Claus putting you on the nice list for doing things He asked.

Ok, but what is the ultimate basis of their morality then?

Not being a jerk? How much of a higher being needs to exist for someone to realize hurting someone else is wrong?
How is it wrong to "be a jerk" if there is no "higher power"?
That is a serious question...

What if ''being a jerk" makes me feel extremely happy... Does that not give me a cause for "being a jerk"? What if "being a jerk" moves me into key position for getting a promotion. Do I not gain from this?

If your retort involves the other persons feelings, then I highly suggest you view it in this light... A lion needs food; thus, the lion gains from eating the gazelle. What defines morality is the individual person. Not the culture nor society. Without a "higher being", morality is based off of individual greed and progress.

I am extremely curious as to how there is morality in your view.

The problem is not that an atheist can't ever do right.

The problems is that the atheist paradigm has no EXPLANATION for absolutes in morality.
All atheists believe in absolutes in morality, though they often claim the contrary.
A bit of questioning will always unveil their belief in absolutes in morality.
However, their philosophical paradigm has no explanation for this.

They essentially believe some things are right and wrong, and have no way to explain why.

If you want to go even further...
you can show the atheist has no explanation for immutable laws of any kind...
not even logic.

He has no explanation of why such a thing as logic exists, or why it is constant or immutable.

If he argues it is NOT constant, then he must also give up his premise of being able to reason about ANYTHING, and thus to be able to debate or argue.

The atheist paradigm, if taken to ANY of it's natural conclusions, always breaks down into absurdity.
It just doesn't work.

Furthermore...
Showing an atheist these things never gets anyone saved.

An atheist can lose 100 debates in a row, or have everything he believes proven false,
and he will still not bow the knee to his creator.

Submission to your creator isn't based upon logic, or science, or proof...
because no amount of proof will change anyone's mind.

Submission to your creator is a matter of choice, a matter of the will.
It is a matter of repentance.

The Bible teaches that the good works we do cannot make us acceptable to God. Titus 3:5 says, “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” So, a Christian is someone who has been born again by God (John 3:3; John 3:7; 1 Peter 1:23) and has put faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8 tells us that it is “…by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”

A true Christian is a person who has put faith and trust in the person and work of Jesus Christ, including His death on the cross as payment for sins and His resurrection on the third day. John 1:12 tells us, “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” The mark of a true Christian is love for others and obedience to God’s Word (1 John 2:4, 10). A true Christian is indeed a child of God, a part of God’s true family, and one who has been given new life in Jesus Christ.

Are you tired of all the evil associated with the philosophy of atheism—Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, and so on? After all, most murderers, tyrants, and rapists are not biblical Christians, and most have rejected the God of the Bible. Even if they claim to believe in the God of the Bible, they are not really living like a true Christ follower (who strives to follow God’s Word), are they?

Do you feel conflicted about the fact that atheism has no basis in morality (i.e., no absolute right and wrong; no good, no bad?) If someone stabs you in the back, treats you like nothing, steals from you, or lies to you, it doesn’t ultimately matter in an atheistic worldview where everything and everyone are just chemical reactions doing what chemicals do. And further, knowing that you are essentially no different from a cockroach in an atheistic worldview (since people are just animals) must be disheartening.

I find myself disagreeing and agreeing with this at the same time. It does seem like some people like to have reasons for why they believe. I know for me I like to ponder the complexity of the universe to bolster my faith. I like to think logically about how everything can not be except it has a creator. But you're right about no amount of proof will change someone's mind. Jesus' miracles proved that.

There is plenty of proof for God's existence.

My point was just that "proof" doesn't bring repentance.

The problem that causes unbelief isn't lack of proof,
the problem that causes unbelief is SIN.

There is plenty of proof... but people just ignore it... intentionally.
