Does that mean if their is gross error, we cannot correct with the word of God according to 2Tim. 3:16?
Do we obey man or do we obey God? Not picking atcha, just suggesting your thinking is little off. Christ's truths and methods are paramount, not to be discarded lest we offend someone or crash a happy clam bake. Go along to get along.
I'm all for fellowship with the saints, but it's not going to be true spiritual intimacy unless it is founded upon the bed rock of biblical truth which is the key to having Him in the midst of our fellowship 'where 2 or 3 are gathered in His Name (authority) He will be there'.
Otherwise, His Spirit is quenched. Then it becomes a carnal gathering. You can do that down at the pool hall.
Jesus wants to be invited into our 'gathering together.' That's why He stands at the door and knocks. 'If any man hear My voice and answer, I will come unto him and sup with him and he with Me.' Rev. 3:20
The beauty of that 'supping' together with Jesus at the head of the table is glorious and it must be based on His conditions and dictates, not on our own traditions and opinions. 'Your traditions make of none effect the word of God', Mark 7:13.
This is most important to the welfare of the 'body of Christ'. It's a do or die situation. We've got to get this right or we'll never enter into His abundant life and will, John 10:10.
This same chapter has declared that the thief comes to steal, (His truth), kill (quench the Holy Spirit in our life), and destroy (all things and blessings God has for us.)
This thief is not just referring to satan, but it refers to men who have taken unto themselves a self exalted controlling authority over the sheep which Jesus condemns in Matt. 23:4-12 and in Matt. 20:25-26, and in 1Peter 5:3.
So these travesties need to be searched out in the word and corrected. And if correction is rejected then the blessed fellowship of the saints that God had in mind, will not be realized.
Am i for the fellowship of the believers? You bet. I'm still waiting. Might have to wait until we get to heaven. That's the best way i know how to answer the ascertion that we need to keep silent on this vital issue. God bless everyone with these biblical truths. Really, that's the only way these blessings are going to get 'unbound'.......by the truth that sets free the captives. John 8:32
Then we can break bread together as He set forth.
If anyone should ever actually experience this biblical, holy, 'God's way of doing this', kind of anointed fellowship, they'ed never ever settle for 'church as usual' again! All the hitelings would have to go 'get a real job', Acts 20:33-35....i bet you never heard these verses taught on. Smile. I wonder why!
By the way...was Jesus an instigator? He sure could stir the pot. Smile.
