Intrusive Thoughts

I know there are plenty of other more urgent prayer request on here, but if someone could just say a simple prayer for me I'd appreciate it. I have OCD and since coming to this site, some very bad stuff has been forcing it's way into my head and I am having trouble shaking it. The thoughts are directly targeting my faith and are completely twisting something very important to salvation. It is actually one in particular and is very disturbing and seems to be a brand new obsession my subconscious has decided to torment me with. Thanks.

Father in heaven, I lift up to you forthangel. Whatever that he in going thru, I believe you are in control and that you are able. You are mighty to save. You are the author of salvation. Well without hopping over to google, I am not sure what OCD means, but you are already in my prayers!

Satan has a wonderful knack for picking just the right words to whisper in our ear to make us doubt, have the most bizarre thoughts, etc - usually just as we are to finally succeed at whatever we are trying to do. Then wham! crushing mental defeat as we are reminded whom we are and why victory will never be ours....

Stand firm.

I am praying for you. Do you know that if you rebuke those thoughts in the name of Jesus each time they pop up they will stop tormenting you? You have to remember how Jesus tells us in the bible that when you are His child you can have perfect peace through Him. Let Him fight this battle for you by laying it at His feet (verbally say that to Him) I myself have a lot of mental crap I deal with from the devil. I have prayed and asked God to revel the truth over the devils lies and He does. I have prayed whining to God telling Him how much I hate the evil, gross, dark thoughts and could he please hide me under his wing and not let them get through. He does every time ya know. Hide me that is from them. I think we just have to remember to call out to Him for His help and train our minds to do this always.
I think that the closer you get to God and the more you reach for Him the more you can expect mental attacks from the devil. Don't be disenheartened by it but let it fill your heart up with gladness that each time the devil tries his crap on us that our Lord Jesus is ready and willing to battle him for us. The devil has tried soooo many times to pull me away from God and honestly I am glad my God is jealous for me and just doesn't allow it to happen. I wake up every morning reaching for my Jesus with my mind. Think about it like this....if the devil is trying that hard to keep us away from getting closer to God....just imagine the good beautiful amazing things that he is trying to keep us from and then your like nope no way.


Psalms Chapter 91
Couple of Bible verses that might help you okay.
2 Corinthians 12: 10
Therefore take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ sake. For when I am weak then I am strong.

(scary dreams but I honestly think the devil has found your greatest fear and that you are giving him the power to use it against you. Its simple: Stop. This verse states clearly that you have NOTHING to fear from anything the devil does to you. Believe in our Lords love and protection for you honey.)

2 I will say of the Lord, HE is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.

3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

(once you really start to believe this verse....any power the devil has over you with the fear of not having a sound mind just goes pop and floats away and you see oh so clearly how the devil lies lies lies)

Fear can be a healthy thing when it tells you to stay away from something that can be harmful to you.

Have you sought help in dealing with OCD? Counseling can really help

Forthangel, one of the best weapons against any intrusive thought is praise.
Everytime anything tries to steal your joy in Jesus, praise Him!
I do this all the time as well and have found so much peace in Jesus in this.
You are in my daily prayers in Jesus for all you ask and need.

My daughters with OCD have trouble with this, especially as it pertains to religious topics. The docs don't know why this is, but I think we know who the author of it is! (and it ain't God!)
That said, some of the threads in the Bible forum are frightening in and of themselves, and though I don't have OCD, I got scared for a moment today, too. Then the Lord sent a brother on this site, who shared a pm he had gotten from a sister here, and together God used them to remind me of His Truth and promises. I actually cried with love and thankfulness and relief! I was beginning to think I would have to be sinless to inherit salvation---which is already mine in Jesus, and which I can't work to get, or destroy with my own faithlessness. I confess to you all that I do stumble, and sin from time to time. But thanks to God, 1 John 1:9 says if I confess my sin He is faithful and just to forgive my sin and purify me from all unrighteousness! ♥

I gladly lift you to your Father, dear one! He is so kind, and always faithful even when we are not. This is actual gospel Truth.
I have asked the Lord to give you wisdom as to which places to avoid, and which things spoken to you here are from Him. I realize people have their own ways of viewing the Word, but that can't be right in God, can it? His Truth is ONE Truth. I have asked the Lord to send you to people who believe and know this Truth. I pray you have a church, with a teacher who knows this Truth as God speaks it who can clear up any confusion spoken here and bring you peace. I pray the Lord Himself will give you this peace, and because He promised it would be yours, I have faith that He will do this.

I pray that God would heal your mind and give you peace that can never be taken away from you.

I have the intrusive thought type of OCD too. It's under control now but during a tough season, it was really bad.
I know how paralyzing it is. What I've learned is, when you get a thought, you need to ask yourself, is this from God?
And it's not, because God isn't creepy. God speaks life!

He loves you and no thought has power over you, your life, or your salvation.
I know they seem real and I know they seem like they are from you, but they are not.

And God knows. He knows your weaknesses, he knew you when you were born and he knew the thoughts you would have someday, but HE IS BIGGER, He saved you, He's going to complete the work He's doing in you and He has you safe in His hands.

What is true = do the thoughts line up with the word of GOD

What honorable ,= Does this give honor to GOD does it lift him up, does it lift others up and does lead you in peace.

whatever is just = does it line up with what you know from GOD’s word is right.

whatever is pure = it is all about how GOD views love, mercy and justice

whatever is lovely = fined something that is beautiful to you and when a bad thought comes remember that thing of beauty and expand on it until the feeling goes away.

whatever is commendable = Every step you make to freedom is to be remembered so when a day comes that might not be so good you can look back and say. I am not where I want to be with the LORD and freedom but I am closer then I use to be.

excellence, = think on the times GOD has came through for you.

worthy of praise = with Praise , pray and the word you will overcome just do not give up.

You got to pray to Gods Precious Loving Holy Spirit to remove these away. I deal with this but dont be scared of the thoughts come worse you got to. Use Gods Word and rebuke the thoughts in Jesus Name. I just dealt with a horrible attack you know why we deal with it becausw it humbles us, gets us closer to Jesus ♡♡ and glorifies Jesus. You can help others let awesome Abba Father USE you, HES IN CONTROL♡♡♡ also write down your battles.
The battle. When and how long. What happened. What did you do? Complain or praised Jesus our Lord and use His Word. And what was the lesson. The battle i just dealt with was helll oh wow but Jesus got me through it by not being scared of the thought and crying out to the Precious Holy Spirit to remove the thoughts. Oh how i love Abba Father Hes so faithful. Just rejoice i this suffering brings patience, perserverence read JAMES 1. Rememner these thoughts are not you. Do the 3 RS 1) Recoginize- who its from 2)reject if Jesus never said it by using the Word of God to the thought read 2 corthians 10:5 sumbit the thought to make it obedience to Jesus Christ. like a thought saying Gods mad at me no thats a lie 3)Replace the thought and say its written God loves me with an everlasting love. I am ugly no thats a lie say God said You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Use Gods Word the most powerful WORDS in the world. I have been dealing with ocd for 3 years i am getting it. You can get through it. You dealt with it before rught has God ever failed you by letting you fall?? Nooo so trust in what God says. God didnt give us a spirit of fear but POWER AND LOVE AND A SOUND MIND ♡♡♡♡♡ He didnt give us a power of disobience where we wont submit to Him He gave us His Precious Power to fight this. We already have victory, through Jesus Christ His Son. Take hear He already overcame the world. World meaning all evil. We should not fear, worry, doubt, be confused, have unforgiveness Jesus destroyed all that by His Precious Blood spilled for us on calvarly. Please take it away. < this is being fear of hurting Jesus which is what we are supposed to do. The more you try not to think something the more you will think it. Don't be obsessed with trying to get rid of a thought that will make it worst. I have been diagnosed with OCD a while ago. I would ask God to forgive me for my thoughts or try to replace a bad thought with something like I love him and want good for him and that did not stop the bad thoughts about him. Dr David Jeremiah says about thoughts that we are not to fight the thoughts themselves but fight against that principle in our lives. He also suggests that with bad thoughts we are to assign their worth. Since the thought is worthless dismiss it as such. Know that you need not feel guilty for bad thoughts that pop into your mind. It is no sin to have a bad thought pop into your mind. I have listened to OCD videos on YouTube that suggests we ignore and accept bad thoughts.
