Is being called the same thing as being justified? I might not have put things right.

Romans 8:30 King James Version (KJV)
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Saved people were always atoned for, justified by faith, and saved in God. But born as sinners there came a time when he humbled them in their sin and applied salvation to them in the new birth. Faith tells them and others he saved them. And becomes a driving force of love in holiness and a saved lifestyle.

The context of Romans 8: 30, begins at verse 29, and concludes on verse 39. Here, in verse 29, the text is speaking of those who God foreknew and were PREDESTINATED to be conformed... in other words, the text is speaking to a future event speaking of the elect. "Many are called, but few are chosen" shows to be called, does not ALWAYS lead to a fruitful and beneficial end. The parable of the sower is a good example, as is the parable of the talents and others in the Epistles.

No, being called is not the same thing as being justified. If they were the same thing, the writer would have not have used different words.

Never define two different Greek (or Hebrew) Biblical words as meaning the same thing. Inspiration means that God breathed the best word and the specific word given means a specific thing.

I think John Piper might have said in a podcast (if I used that word right) that being called and being justified mean the same thing.

LOL! I don't really care who said it - two different Greek words do not mean the same thing - they may be close in meaning - but they are two different words.

My head might be a mess. If I'm getting this right, I might have just been letting you know that John Piper said in a podcast (if I used that word right) that being called and being justified mean the same thing. I might have sent an email sort of asking if he was sure that being called and being justified meant the same thing.

Many are called but few are chosen, this implies that being called is easier to understand then being justified/chosen.
