I know of a lot of churches that serve meals, provide clothing and have cooling/warming shelters. Just because someone isn't involved in these things doesn't mean they're asleep; maybe they have other ministries. Not everything people do is visible. Just because they don't broadcast their actions for the world to see doesn't mean they're asleep.

INDIVIDUALLY I agree Resident.... but when Houses of God are locked against sheltering people, I question the Christian nature of their belief.

Are you questioning the christian nature of homeless as well.
I understand that some ARE thieves and might steal anything that isn't nailed down. But mostly it would be just food as they'd be hungry, and maybe toilet paper. Its so annoying when you go to the toilet, and there is an empty roll.
 
This is also why, church buildings should have eaves. Most do have some kind of porch/portico to shelter people from the rain, even when the church is locked.

You might question why any Christian goes against God's word and advocates embracing those who disobey immigration laws.

Americans,contrary to what foreign haters insist is true,do not oppose lawful immigration.

Criminal entry,criminal treapass,is illegal. And God NEVER said to embrace lawlessness

So,ignore the agents of God's adversary and haters of America, and get a clue!

Even Heaven has a gate and a vetting process!

I used to work /volunteer for the Salvation Army many years ago in an inner city church. I do think they did/do a lot of good work in outreach and social programs, however that dedication has slowly dwindled as well.

Real street ministry (meaning more than yelling at people that they are going to hell) is very challenging and with all the present day mental health problems it is far more involved than just handing out food and a place to stay, the safety of the workers/volunteers is a real concern.
imho.
