...if you say it was only that God gave the new covenant so the law was in our hearts not in stone, then you should have said so. I feel that idea is up for discussion.
If God says it is NOT up for discussion, then that should be the end of the matter. And God does say that.

I think people need to understand that there are 613 laws God put in place and the 10 commandments are included in the 613 laws ------and if you broke one law you broke them all ---and that is according to God's word ------

James 2:10

“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

I say
The Jewish Nation was God's Chosen Nation -----the laws were given to that Nation only --the Gentiles were never included in the Written Laws ----but God did make sure that when the Gentiles sinned their conscience was convicted -----they felt Guilt and shame and condemnation ----

The 10 Commandments were given to show the Jewish Nation their sin -----the 10 commandments were given at Mount Sinai---the Israelite's were sinning wildly and were showing no remorse for committing these sins ---they built a golden Calf and Idol and were partying-------and They themselves said they would follow what ever commands God gave them ------so they really ask for the commandments themselves and said they would follow them ---- God knew that they couldn't keep the laws He was giving them but He Gave them to show the Jews their sin and make them know that they were under the Curse of the Law and needed a Saviour who would bring in Grace and bring back the Blessings ----

Where laws are in place sin abounds ------guilt---shame and condemnation will be felt ---no man could keep the Law ----and that stands today -----

Romans 5:20
The Law came, so that the full power of sin could be seen.

Galatians 3:19
19 Why then was the law? It was set because of transgressions, until the seed should come, to whom he made the promise, being ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

I say --
So why would God what to write Laws that bring the Curse on our hearts --- as man cannot keep the laws ----if you ever tell a lie --you broke that command and all the other commands ----

Jesus came to fulfil the laws and make us new laws ----the 10 commandments are great moral laws that we should try and adhear to but we will fail in keeping them -----unbelievers today remain under the curse of the Law ---Believers are under Grace and the Blessings -----

Jesus said it best ---as to just how difficult it is to keep the laws -----the law of adultery --not to commit

Jesus speaking here -----Matthew 5:28 CSB
But I tell you, everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

I say -----The new Spiritual laws that the New Covenant gives are what I believe are written on our hearts ---- these laws bring the Blessing ----this makes more sense to me ----

The law of Liberty ---James 1:25 --
The Law of Faith ---Romans 3:27
The law of Agape ( Love )--Romans 13:8
