I bought a mirror for a friend in a big store and i was not charged for the item. When i realised it i just said thankyou lord as i saw it as a blessing. When i told my christian friend she said i was being tested and that i should go back to the shop and pay for the item ? Wot do you think do you think it was the lord helping my money stretch as i have little or do you think it is a test and i need to go back to the big store and tell them they made a mistake and pay when it will truely cut into my already thin food budget?????
 
I think that if God intends it to be free you will not have to pay for it even if you go back :)
 
So, you think God is blessing you through theft? For God to bless you a company has to lose money? Lose product? This company was just injured. Gods blessing never come at someone elses expense. Neither does God use sin (stealing, in this case) to bless us.
How do you know the employee that made that mistake didn't get in trouble? Some sort of reprimand, loss of job, or even taking the cost out of their paycheck?
 
I think you should go back and tell them what happened....as someone who has worked as a clerk before, I know employees can get in trouble for this kind of stuff.
 
I agree, you should go back to the store. First off, obviously, thou shalt not steal - since you know you didn't pay for it, keeping it at this point would technically be stealing.

But like others have said, I work at a store and had this happen to me. I would've got in serious trouble if the customer hadn't come back to pay for the item. And like wwjd_kilden said, you never know, you may end up getting it for free anyway. The right thing to do would be to take it back. :)
 
I think it is a test to see if you will do what God would want you to do (be honest and true) or do something that YOU want to do. Its okay. We all fall on our butts. I once was going through a McDonalds drive thru and was thinking how badly I wanted a sweet tea but only had enough for what I ordered when as soon as I drove up the woman opened the window and handed me a sweet tea. I flunked. I drank every bit of that sweet tea and enjoyed it to. At the time I was in awe because it was like god read my mind and gave me the sweet tea. To this day I'm not sure if I flunked a test or if he really did read my mind and gave me my hearts desire. Was really good sweet tea lol.
 
THANKYOU Bekah it is true sometimes it can feel like god has answered your request for your needs or is it a test its hard to know. For all the other replies thankyou although some abit harsh saying i am stealing i was 2 weeks into turning to god i had no understanding of the bible and was just starting out. At the time i thought it was a gift from god so i took the money plus added some and gave it to a christian homeless charity i am only questioning this with the mirror and the shop now because the more i read and learn the more i wonder if that was a sin . So thankyou but harsh words of stealing is unhelpfull remember to show kindness and look at the bigger picture before judging others beacause at the time i thought i was doing right and its only now on my journey that i question these actions.
Thank the lord for opening my eyes forgive me my sin.
 
PS the only reason why i am questioning this now is because it came up in a discussion with my christian friend the incident with the mirror happend christmas . My money has taken even a bigger drop and i am in alot of dept but i will go back to the shop and pay if you all think i should although explaining it was at christmas may be fun though
 
You want to know something strange? God has a tendency to give you what you need if you give it to others.
I am not saying "sell your house and give it to the poor", but try it small scale, you might be surprised :)
 
I do believe this and even though i get over drawn in my bank i still have direct debits for charities because i know god will always help me from ever becomming hungry and he helps my money stretch xxx
 
I wasn't intending to be harsh, sorry if it seemed that way. But at the same time, what do you call it when you take something you haven't paid for? I didn't call you a thief, i merely pointed out the fact that you stole something. I know you had no intent to steal when you went in there, but doesn't change the facts.
 
I would say certainly call the store and tell them the mistake they made. If they say you can have it without paying for it, then you're guilt free. If you pay for it, you would be doing the right thing anyway.
 
Send the money into the store via post with a little note and no return address ..............

They will find it difficult to accept money from you for something that happened long ago, they may consider you not being of "sound mind".....

You did not steal them, you intended to pay and it was their error... when you realized the error, it laid heavy on you.

These things happen and not always in favour of the customer, sometimes we get overcharged and I do not always correct their mistakes... I don't think they are trying to steal simply a mistake.

I think you should go to the store and explain what happened and pay for the mirror. For all you know, God could be using you as a testimony to the people at the store because not many people would go back.
 
yes pay them i was not charged for a 1.50 newspaper even when it was scanned at the check out i allways read my slip i went and paid at the srvice desk,did not say who rang up my food shopping order.so did i steal,no even when i had the newspaper for 10 mintues before paying 4 it,you did not intend to steal to pay them even 4 thier mistake is a christian blessing too then it speaks volumes they may think why r u doing it cause as a christian it is right 2 do of course.Bee Blessed AllWays.....AMEN....
