sweet_eyes, hi
i think its perfectly fine to tell God that you'd like a husband- as long as its His will. I think its ok we ask him for anything, keeping in mind the contingency 'if thats Your will, Lord.' because if its not His will, and we want it anyway, thats like us telling Him that we know better than He does.
but i understand your frustration when people tell you that you will find someone when you aren't looking. i'm sorry you've felt that way :-\ . i think that people just say that because of the example of Ruth and Boaz in the Old Testament. Ruth was just gleaning the fields, doing work and seeking God's face, and then Boaz comes and chooses her. However you are right, God is not limited to only provide you a husband under circumstances like those.
i don't want to say all the things i'm sure you've already heard, but i'd like to encourage you not to be too eager

God can do amazing things with a single woman after His own heart. the possibilities are endless! i am also young and single, and i am excited about how God can use me while i'm still only serving Him, as opposed to when i'm married and also serving my husband under Him.
i wish you the best of luck with everything, and i'll be praying that God brings you a mighty man of faith who will love and treat you exactly how you deserve to be loved and treated.
