I guess you could look at it as we are standing on a Christmas ornament ball hanging from a tree but the tree isn’t there. The North Pole being the invisible hook attached to nothing
 
That makes sense, but up is the only direction you can go from there to keep going in the direction of north compared to the rest of the planet
There would technically be no north direction proceed based on your position on earth. No matter which direction you went would be either south or up into space. Which in space confusing as it is there is no up or down nor south or north. Never trust directions from an astronaut. 😂 Either way you would be very cold.
