Hemp and marijuana are both Cannabis sativa plants, but they are distinguished legally and chemically
by their tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content. Hemp contains 0.3% or less THC, making it non-intoxicating
and federally legal in the US, while marijuana contains higher levels of THC, causing a "high" and remains
federally illegal; the term "marijuana" specifically refers to cannabis cultivated for its intoxicating properties.
I've smoked both they will both intoxicate you but yeah I knew that difference I'm just saying marijuana as a general term

A lot of things are legal. Christians don't look only to man's laws to decide what is God's will. Where are we instructed in the Bible to make a practice of getting intoxicated? Then look up all the references where we're instructed to maintain sobriety.
Well you dissected my comment incorrectly the reason I mentioned where it's legal because as soon as I didn't somebody's going to say it's illegal

Second you're making a huge assumption I didn't go look up any of this in the Bible to prove one point or the other I simply asked is it a sin to smoke marijuana

Pretty much everybody did exactly what you're saying only to to try to prove sobriety and I argued that because Jesus drank wine at the Last Supper I would assume that he wasn't intoxicated or sinning and by proxy if you smoke a joint rather than half a bag of weed where is the point of intoxication since apparently you can do something like drink a glass of wine and not be intoxicated and the same would be true of marijuana in moderation

And lastly I wasn't talking about getting intoxicated I was talking about smoking a joint or having a glass of wine as Jesus did.

Now I wrote all this in English and some pretty plain terms and in most cases it should be good English the question is how can you be certain or what you think the Bible says since you can't seem to follow a single question

And lastly I wasn't talking about getting intoxicated I was talking about smoking a joint or having a glass of wine as Jesus did.
Apparently we have different definitions of intoxication. If you can smoke a joint or drink a glass of wine without getting at least a mild buzz then you're wasting your money. You'd be better off to not smoke or drink and just save your money.

wI find nothing to indicate neither in research nor in the Bible that suggest that the marijuana plant was made for no other reason but to harm the body in fact in reality it was used quite a bit for making ropes hemp ropes and obviously later we've done all sorts of stuff with it made shirts and other things

Corinthians 6:12, Paul writes, “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be dominated by anything.” Resident Alien made an excellent point.

Can't see it condemned either
I shared my home briefly with someone I knew from many years before. I did not know that he was a heavy user. I also did not know that he heard voices from space telling him that aliens were about to invade the earth. He'd been using since a teenager and he was about 50.

Not everyone who does dope gets addicted. However, what I saw with my acquaintance as well as quite a few others I know, tells me that dope is unsafe because no one can be sure how they will react.

Almost none of those reference smoking weed in any way. Unless the presumption is that is it bad before you read the verse. Weed is hardly comparable to strong drink neither in effects nor in how it interacts with the body.

The fact is that in 20+ years when its legal everywhere for recreational use, hardly anyone except maybe a handful of fundamental churches will say its bad.

In Genisis God gave man ALL herbs of the earth to use. Paul tells us that all things are permissible but not all are edifiable.

It clearly has medicinal purposes. It clearly has recreational purposes. The only reason I would say the bible is against it is because its illegal (for the most part) and God has placed the governments over us. So if they lift the ban and make it legal... the bible has nothing to say.

As with anything moderation in all. Jesus drank wine, with real alcohol. Heck he produced enough for an entire wedding part as his first miracle. If it was bad what was he doing?

One of the apostles encouraged another to have some wine because he had a medical issue. I cant recall who at the moment.

I would also argue that for some people it greatly enhances their relation and understanding with God.

The only remote relation to biblical verses is that the Magic arts is Greek term “pharmakeia,” in the Book of Revelation which appears in several passages (e.g., Revelation 9:21, 18:23). This word CAN carry the sense of administering potions, engaging in witchcraft, sorcery, or occult practices. The broader concept involves seeking supernatural power apart from the one true God. In Revelation, such practices reflect a stance of rebellion, deception, and allegiance to forces opposed to God’s kingdom. However, sitting down at the end of the day to watch the news and smoke a joint hardly can be fit into this definition.
Try this. Smoke your joint then write down what you are experiencing. You could record your prayers too. Play them back when you are straight. See how "spiritual" it makes you. Just a thought. If it really was of value, do you not think God would say so in His word?

Another thought. Why is this so important to you?

If you want to smoke weed, and you don't see anything sinful about it, I guess that's between you and God; but you really should keep it to yourself. You shouldn't come on here and try to convince people it's not sinful and that it's okay. There may be others who might be caused to stumble by doing something you see as perfectly fine. As Christians, it's our duty to consider the welfare of others, not just ourselves.

"But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak. For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol’s temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols? And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble." 1 Corinthians 8:9-13

The same can be said for alcohol though. You don't know you have an issue till you take the first drink. My uncle was a life long alcoholic. My father never drank and taught us to do the same and drugs also. Never missed not having either one.

Ageed, there is no "spirital" benefit to smoking weed. I know someone who use to smoke and I'll mention some movie I think is stupid and they say " oh you'd have to be high to get that humor". Plus weed is known to lead to heavier drugs for many people.

Yes one would think but is that buzz actually being non-sober according to the Bible since we know Jesus drank wine at the Last Supper

On the contrary I was asking the question is it sinful soliciting for somebody to point out where the Bible might suggest that it is I personally am not a drug user any longer and actually I don't think it's a good idea that people use drugs of any kind

In essence this was an exercise to see if anybody can defend their belief which we are called to do and most people believe it is a sin

Interestingly you seem to be the only person who has said it out of all of this that I've read which is the issue is between me and God

Right go to any of your smoking Edibles and purchase the smoke level flower of the hemp plant which
is legal to be sold in the US now and smoke it and then tell me that you're not getting intoxicated
Smokable hemp flower is the dried, trimmed bud of the Cannabis sativa plant that is specifically
cultivated to contain low levels of delta-9 THC (0.3% or less by dry weight), making it legally distinct
from marijuana and generally non-intoxicating. It is highly valued for its high CBD (cannabidiol)
content, often ranging from 14% to 22%, along with other cannabinoids like CBG.

Yeah I know trust me I know I have smoked the .3% cannabis it will get you high trust me

Although I would have to say that based on my original questioning about is smoking marijuana a sin and what you are suggesting here is that it is not an intoxicant would seem to not condemn smoking hemp

No I do have a legitimate question I was told years ago that hemp is an immature non flowered marijuana plant in essence a child marijuana plant I have never heard anybody say that it is two separate plants can anybody with 100% certainty clarify this one way or the other

Okay I did my super Oracle of the AI and internet and found exactly what I personally have thought marijuana and hemp are the exact same thing

Hemp and weed (marijuana) are both Cannabis sativa plants, but they differ legally and chemically. Hemp contains \(\le 0.3\%\) THC (non-intoxicating) and is used for fiber, oils, and CBD. Weed contains \(>0.3\%\) THC, often much higher, and is cultivated for its intoxicating, psychoactive effects

The name “Legion” is the name of the many demons trapped in a man, which Jesus sent into a herd of pigs.

I’m trying to understand why the name choice?

Also, the wine that Jesus drank was basically a fermented grape juice (11-12% alcohol content), and diluted with water, lowering the alcohol content.

People back then drank mostly wine, in order to refrain from polluted water.

Yes exactly a legion was a Roman unit of a thousand soldiers

Jesus found him possessing a man running around in a graveyard in chains scaring people and causing problems once Jesus learned of his name he cast him out into a bunch of pigs who ran off into a cliff which greatly upset the people since that was their form of money however the imagery is what I have captured and using the name for example
