Many people hold to the values of a Judeo -Christian God or culture.
The sad thing is that the bible says the narrow way to the Father is only through Jesus Christ. Therefore people who hold to Judeo -Values, name the name God (minus Christ) or whatever else, are not following God nor worshipping Him. The slogan "one nation under God" falls short. The proper Christian slogan is "one nation under God the Father through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit". "one nation under God" is pseudo-Christian at best, and in no way honors God , because God is only worshipped and glorified through the Son Jesus Christ. Even the devils believe in God. That is the level of belief that is examplified in today's culture and government. It is pretense at best, because we know that no one can access God except through Christ. And if they don't access God through Christ they do not have God.
I'm not sure the practice in American government, but as I alluded to before, Australia is probably more Christian than America.
In parliament they say (or used to say) the Lord's prayer , which at least acknowledges the Father in Heaven, and is decidedly Christian.
Australia's founders also declared quite openly and plainly that Australia would be a Christian nation. It's hard to find such clear similar statements affirming Christianity in America's. But correct me if i'm wrong.
Australia's head of state is the Queen of England who is (or was) titled the Defender of the Faith, and head of the Church of England.
One of our former Governors (Queen's representative) was a former Anglican arch-bishop.
They are a few examples of a more Christian government rather than a pseudo "we acknkowledge God" government. God could mean anything, a Hindu god, Allah, or some new age universal God of the universe.
Living a life based on good moral principles based upon Judeo-Christian values might make a good framework for a countries government , (better than communist right?), but we have to realise that this is not the type of narrow-minded way of biblical fundamental Christianity most of us in here ascribe to. Which I suppose is why many American Christians seem disatisfied with their governments as they are not lined up with the bible enough.
