Yes, there is power in Jesus' blood. This fact has nothing to do with the Roman Catholic teaching of transubstantiation or any Animistic superstitions.
It is good to go back to the Old Testament and take a look at animal sacrifice. It is based on God's eternal declaration that there is no remission of sin without shedding of blood (Hebrews 9:22). It is valid for all times, both OT and NT.
The animal sacrifices were merely a foreshadowing of the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus, yet even fulfilling the requirements of these shadows was of critical importance. God made sure that everyone, even the pagan Egyptians, understood this at the first Passover. The details of that dreadful night are recorded in Exodus 12. It was dreadful only for those who failed to follow the explicit directions to apply literal blood to the literal doorposts of their literal houses. If you don't believe that there was power in that blood, just go back in time and ask anyone who had applied it to their door posts that night. Better yet, ask anyone that didn't.
It could be argued that it was not the blood, but simply the attitude of obedience that saved their firstborn sons, but we need to remind ourselves that God's requirement of blood was not arbitrary. We must not forget about the declaration of Hebrews 9:22 that was mentioned earlier.
Perhaps one good lesson (and there are many) that we can draw from this is that not all religious paths lead to Heaven. Only Christianity contains all the ingredients required to bake salvation cake.
Don't be deceived by wolves offering you a blood-free Christianity. The blood atonement of Jesus Christ the Son of God is the centerpiece of Christianity when it comes to remission of sin. It always has been and always will be. We shall see the nail-prints in His hands.
