I do have another thought, ConfusedChic. Are you asking us if it would be considered being unequally yoked because he USED to be a Hindu/didn't grow up in the Christian faith, or because he doesn't seem to be seeking the Lord as much as you do? I re-read what you said, and I would like to add that the fact that he hasn't been baptized yet doesn't mean that he isn't a strong believer, although if he doesn't WANT to be baptized, I'd definitely want to know why. It would likely mean that he doesn't want others to know that he belongs to Jesus, which would be a total deal-breaker for me; I only want a guy who isn't ashamed of the Gospel.

The answer to this question is very simple. You obviously have a spiritual conviction here so the question is this :

What are your desires to serve the Lord and how does this man fit into those desires ? Are those desires growing with age or will they fad when your married with children ? Its very possible that even though hes not a believer he can still greatly support your desire for God or your desire to serve God could ruin your marriage. You need to think about this and be honest with these desires and how this man fits into them. Pray about this and be honest with yourself than you will have your answers on weather you are unequally yoked !

Wow, this sure is a lot of good advice. Did you get the answer you wanted yet? Was anything you read going to shape your decision, or did you already have your mind made up? Admittedly I don't know much about women but I claim this. Once a women's mind is made up you aren't going to change it. You have stated many of his good qualities but there must be some things you are keeping out to cause such hesitation. Forget about attraction, do you respect him? That is what is required from the wives. Love from him and respect from her. Whether he has just accepted Christ or grown up in a Christian home, if the way he acts sometimes causes you concern now, it's going to put you over the edge after a year of marriage. I heard a preacher say this and it might be the truest statement about marriage. "A women goes into a marriage thinking that the man will change, the man goes in thinking the woman will never change, and they're both wrong."

There are a lot of response to your post and I am not sure if you will read this one but I just wanted to share a true life story on this very same topic that you posted. I will try to be brief but I share because I care.

I am a PK (preacher's kid) and asked Him into my life at the age of 3. I have stumbled along the way at times but NEVER stopped serving Him. I did not do drugs, drink alcohol, party, pre-marital sex and was driven for God. I served in the U.S. Army and experienced war, yet never wavering in my faith. Got out of the Army and merged myself in ministry; drummer for worship team, director for drama team, youth ministry and became a licensed minister traveled to churches preaching God's word.

I was 27 and grew tired of waiting on God to bring the lady in my life to whom He desired for me to have. I met this girl and was attracted to her and she was to me. We went out with a group and than she asked me why I would not go out on a date with her alone. I asked her if she was a christian and she said that she believes in God but not a christian. I explained that I will not date a non-believer and gave the reasons we all know that are Christians. A little while passed and I get a call late at night (understand during the time that has passed, she was in church and learning about God) and she tells me that she accepted Jesus into her heart. More time passed and I did not see the fruits of her professed faith but choice to be the knight that would help her. Next thing I know, I felt that it was my responsibility for her to grow in her faith and without me she would not serve God.

I went against His will (trust me He in many ways He plainly let me know not to do it) and 1999 married someone that I should not have. I suffered greatly for almost 8 years for disobeying God (He did not punish me. The results from my disobedience was punishment enough). I never had a time where the marriage was good (my opinion...for more then a week at a time) and I stuck it out because of not believing in divorce (yes the Bible gives exception to this but at the time I did not have 100% proof that what I believed was going on did happen to me) and I was not about to leave my children. With out going into great detail those years of marriage was full of conflict, abuse (from her to me and the children), anger beyond understanding and she partied like a single non-believer (her abuse to the children and her having sex with other guys was not brought out 100% to light until after we separated).

In 2007 we were separated with an ugly divorce that took almost a year (God blessed me and the children through out all of this mess…I currently have my children 100% of the time as primary care giver and yes that was my biggest prayer answered). Through all of this I never stopped loving or serving God but due to my circumstances that held my hearts desire captive refrained me from fulfilling Gods calling on my life. I continue to play the drums for the praise and worship band at my church that I currently attend and I am part of the youth ministry there as well.

God is so good and He has kept all of His promises that he made me in Nov. of 2007 on Sunday night when the Holy Spirit came upon me and rocked my world at church.

Well, that is the short version but now you know to NEVER STOP WAITING ON GOD! Do NOT let your heart guide your life over ridding what God has plainly spoken in His Word. If you want something bad enough it can be confusing thinking that it is the will of God when indeed it is not. How can you tell the difference you may ask? The Bible has the answers but the real question is will you follow God's Word or your own desire?

It is now 5 years later for me and God has blessed my faithfulness beyond belief and has keep His promise to my children and I more than I could have imagined.

I have a HUGE loving heart and I knew that I wanted to be married since I was a teenager. I have a longing to love a godly woman with all my heart can offer but to this day I am still longing for her. When I start to get lonely and thinking about settling for less than what the Bible instructs us to do, I just remember the "hell on earth" that I went through because at one point in my life I stopped waiting on God.

We need to let God be god of our lives and to NEVER stop waiting and trusting Him. Prov. 3:5

In this present day of which there is no comparison of: evil, trials, danger and the intense signs of the coming of the Lord. It is better to remain as you were when you came to Jesus and gave Him your all, i know of the natural desires of mankind and the deception that is in flesh, I implore you with great desire of sincerity do nothing unless you are overwhelmed in the Holy Spirit, deny yourself and the desires that drive all of us take your cross and follow after Jesus to your finish line of completed faith. I made a mistake also in marrying and not following the word the Lord gave me that, "I have not favored you with a wife," so i live to please Him, of which there will be no entanglements of the flesh and the world, to finish my race to meet Him face to face. SEEK THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART TO KNOW 100% THE ANSWER FROM HIM before you make any marriage commitment. If you do not receive His answer do nothing.
