Yes it does, and it does seem to be quite chauvinistic, I wouldn't put too big an emphasis on this one verse though.
In context it says;
[SUP]11 [/SUP]A woman[SUP][
a][/SUP] should learn in quietness and full submission. [SUP]12 [/SUP]I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[SUP][
b][/SUP] she must be quiet. [SUP]13 [/SUP]For Adam was formed first, then Eve. [SUP]14 [/SUP]And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. [SUP]15 [/SUP]But women[SUP][
c][/SUP] will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
This was a personal letter to Timothy and he had a job to do which might put a slant on it. 'Might'. If you have a commentary or a bible dictionary to hand look up First Timothy and see if the historical background has any bearing on the verse, but it seems to me to be about relationships between couples and church etiquette.
Paul was also led by the Spirit to say there was no difference between male and female, free and slave Jew and Greek in Jesus, which would seem to challenge this view if it were chauvinistic.
The church at Corinth seemed to be beset with gender problems, which with a little common sense and a bit of historical incite show that women in that society had their own agenda which spilled over into the church, bought about by war and a lack of males.
A few of Paul's sayings he directly a tributes to himself and not the Holy Spirit, especially where women are concerned.
There are reasons we are different, firstly if us men had to give birth even Able would not have been born, and the Human race would have died out after Cain (any husband that has been at a birth will agree, even if it is tongue in cheek), and usually strength levels are different between us.
As for the self restraint bit, If it wasn't for Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit none of us would have the self restraint we would need to be overcomer's.
I would not worry unduly about these verses, if there is anything in your life that Jesus needs changing, believe me He will lead you there, no matter what I tell you.
God bless
