Lovette explains his strategy. Ridicule. Controlling.
Feel free to take it over, man. I'm done ridiculing or controlling. All that I'd intend to argue is that "touch starvation" is just a form of "learned helplessness", there're too many meaningful things to be starving for, the touch of a fat sweaty palm probably shouldn't be one of them.

Why must you always choose such extreme examples to back your assertions? Why couldn't it be a soft gentle hand? Do they exist in your worldview?

There is definitely some validity to touch starvation.

Having worked the same physically demanding job since leaving school, I've observed how my aches and pains linger for much longer without the comfort of physical affection.

Growing up as a non-believer, I went through the worldly phase of having a girlfriend, and I noticed how the lasting aftereffects of a strenuous week's work were significantly reduced when affectionate cuddles were not in short supply.

Yes, but evaluate the likelihoods, how likely will you get a touch from a fat sweaty palm, how likely will a soft gentle hand. And most importantly, are you a beggar or a chooser in this situation.

Uh we get it you just don't like being touched.

It's ok Mr cactus.
No judgement.

You don't know the difference between touch and press, poke or swat. And you don't know a sweaty or dirty palm, which is quite common.

Waaaiiiitttt..... so it's ok to desire human touch as long as it's not a poke, press or swat? And as long as the hand in question is clean and dry? 🤔

You don't know the difference...what are YOU talking about?

Who been pawing you?

I'm not. Jeepers.

Shall we just use a barge-pole then.

This thread is taking a weird turn.

You don't have to shake hands with anyone if you don't want to, you know that, don't you.

If anyone tries, you can just spit on your hand, then offer it to shake. That's just the way it's done. The spit cleans the dirt right off!
Sweat only accumulates on your hands if they've been inside plastic or rubber gloves for a while.

I thought everyone knew that!

When I was gardening, one of my supervisors was like 'Why are you wearing gloves?' and I'm like uh...I don't want to be scratched by the roses. I mean you can always not wear them and put your hands in the earth, but it gets under your fingernails sometimes and can be hard to scrub out.

Unsatiated desire for things beyond your reach is not ok. "Thou shalt not covet," saith the Lord.

I don't believe a word you said here.

Touch, for some people, is like attention....

And we know how children get when starved for attention. If they can't get it for positive behaviors they know they can get it for bad behaviors.

Adults usually are not much different.

Except the autistic ones with fibromyalgia

What does that have to do with your comment to Lanolin about being swatted with dirty sweaty hands? Was that a cry for help? Are you being poked, pressed, and swatted? Should we call the authorities? 😬

Watch the moon as it clears the wall
Life is good I'm saying, all in all
But I'm lonely tonight

Yeah my faith is gonna see me through
You know I trust in You
But I'm lonely tonight

It's not a simple need for company
I don't know where I belong
In the world I see
And I'm lonely tonight

It's true I love You and my love is true
You know I'm thankful too
But I'm lonely tonight
